Apparently in Illinois if you swerve into oncoming traffic and kill someone because you were downloading a ringtone it only costs $1000. Which is considerably less than the price of a decent hit

    Hey. Anyone here speak English?

"A is substituted for B" as in "This fallacy has been illustrated by ethical or theological arguments wherein the fear of punishment is subtly substituted for abstract right as the sanction of moral obligation."

Does this mean A comes first and is then turned into B... or the other way around? Err, I mean... is the um... gah.

A is taking the place of B?

Substitution is when one thing is put in place of another - so, if A is substituted for B, A is put in place of B. In this instance, the fear of punishment has replaced abstract right.

Hey, I heard there were people who speak English...

    How would you describe "externalities" in the following sentence;

"Technology Spillovers are externalities associated with the production of knowledge created by R&D."

I only understand it vaguely, it is "extra knowledge" found by R&D, or something like that. I'm not totally sure and it is quite important to understanding the article I'm reading, so I figured I'd ask it here.

Yeah, did that yesterday. Three hours of sleep; lets just say I´m not really awake right now.

    So, what´s up, Mr²?

    Edit:

    Hi, Aldo.

Technological Spillover is knowledge gained during an R&D process, that´s not important for the current project but can be used otherwise (perhaps even in a completely different field!).

    Edit2:

ELM was faster and did it much better.

Externalities are basically spinoff products. So if you're building rockets then you might go and develop some new type of steel to be their casing. However in the process of doing that, you learn a lot about steel, and this knowledge 'spills over' to let you make a lot of new and interesting types of steel.

    she's... different that's for sure

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGTDRztaCCw&mode=related&search=

she can sing when she wants to, but she likes to do weird things that are offputting at first (like the hea-ah-ah-ah-ah-art part)

but her songs have a simplicity and honesty that i find touching. maybe it's just because it's early in the morning and i'm tired. i dunno

The videoclip is nice, but that's because it has a checkered floor. Besides that, way too cute for my taste. I'm sure there's hordes of people out there who like it, just not my kind of music.

Ah, I see, AD. This is a crosspost from your H/A thread.

    So, how´s NWN2?

I never even considered playing it, because of the KOTOR2 fiasco.

    Also:

Good morning, Shinto. Seems like you got bottom page´d.

I enjoy it, but I had to adjust to great many things and ignore others.

I also heard the ending sucks, but I'm not there yet and the story thus far is way better than NWN1; so all in all I'd say it is very much like what I heard of KOTOR2.

I haven't heard any gripes about the toolset though, that might be stellar.
