Looks like microsoft is going to be giving away some free Vista and Office licenses. All you need to do is watch a few webcasts to secure your free copies.

And live in the US... which rules me out. But I'm sure there are a lot of you that would like a free copy of a $300 operating system

    From the "Offering Details"

    f you are eligible for and register to receive both gifts, you must complete a W-9 (Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification) form prior to receipt of the second gift. Any gift returned as non-deliverable will not be re-sent. Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for shipment of your gift(s).

    That's pretty damn strange.

    There is a tax liability issue if you intend to get both Office 2007 Pro and Vista, however, for those that are qualified.

    Not really. Getting both Office and Vista would make it a gift worth over $600, which would make you liable for a gift recipient tax.

    If you work PC retail be sure to get in touch with your Microsoft rep. Mine said we'd all be getting Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 in January.

    Come on guys, give some more "how to not fuck up and get caught" tips on this shit. I don't want to waste 300 bucks.

    Funny enough, I get further into the process with FF w/ User agent switcher set to IE. I get all the way into the offline link page [since it can't access WMP obviously].

    With IE, I just Internal error 500 right when I click on the view button.

    I know this might be a small thing because the copy is free. But the business version of Vista doesn't have all the media center functionality.

    You can apparently upgrade from Business for cheap.

    I'm not sure how "cheap" but thats what I heard.

    I'm registered and have my webcasts picked, but when I try and view them I get a 500--Internal Server Error.

    the dreaded error of penny arcade forum past...we meet again.
