"Feel free to question things as long as you dont disagree with me"

there are some opinions that I don't share that I can see the merits of
like a lot of fiscal issues or political ideologies, I don't endorse them but yeah, I can see where you're coming from
I'm just trying to highlight the difference between "I wonder if this way of doing things is the best it could possibly be" and "maybe we live on the inside of the planet Earth and no one has ever told us because they don't want us to find out"
When it comes to the medical profession, we shouldn't just accept things because some doctor says it's so.
However, when a consensus is reached by medical professionals after scientific research and proper studies are done, you can safely accept the determination.
Jenny McCarthy and other anti-vaxxers aren't saying "Maybe it would be a good idea to investigate this more" they are saying "We are going to ignore the investigations that qualified professionals have already done and make assumptions and correlations based entirely on anecdotal evidence"
shank maybe instead of assuming people are largely a bunch of ignorant plebeians parroting the ideas of more intelligent, enlightened people, you pull your ipod out of your urethra and give people the benefit of the doubt
see, that's what i am talking about man
college has done stuff to you
I'm not assuming anything, I am describing a behavior that I witness again and again. It's not like I'm saying that everyone here is parroting those wiser, but I do think there are people here that do. I also think there are people here that know topics in much greater depth than I ever will.
Also, I find the implication that I learned this stuff last week incredibly offensive. My brother was diagnosed with autism at the age of two - my mother shunned modern medicine thereafter, and I was raised without ever going to the doctor. Around the age of fourteen or fifteen, I began hungrily devouring all the literature I could find on the subject, and came to my own conclusions. The idea that you just assume that this is some regurgitated view is not only pretty rude, but hilarious, because the existence of regurgitated information is exactly what I'm arguing. You are basically attempting to dismiss what I'm saying by accusing me of doing what I am describing.
jesus, pony. having the shit beat out of you time and again has done stuff to you.

Well this is why the vaccination argument is a particularly good example. The evidence on the subject is readily available and, in my opinion, pretty cut-and-dry. The controversy over it constantly amazes me, because it takes (relatively) so little time to become a damn-near expert on the subject.

Are these the people who don't believe that HIV leads to AIDS, that AIDS is caused by something else?
