the persona games are pretty neat if you ignore the fact that their stories are apparently written by a retarded epileptic in a room full of strobe lights

I'm guessing you haven't played the second one.
The one about the serial killer, rumors, news reporters, wire hackers, detectives. It's pretty one of a kind, especially since all the main characters are adults.

aren't the persona games just like friend simulators with some christian symbolism to make the people playing it think its deep
We've been over this before. SMT games have demons from all sorts of mythologies, including Hinduism, Catholism, Celtic, Shinto, Buddhist, etc. Persona's just a side story of that series, so it involves the same entities.
Like how all the FFs have Chocobos and Tonberries and what not.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but:
damn, geebs [EDIT] also Munkus
I can't trust your opinion about anything after this
the loose plot threads fuckin' killed me, though
i really wanted to see the ideal version
I mean, whoa.
and how did it fail to meet your expectations
don't tell me it's because you could use a sword against a lightsaber
because I'll kill you in your sleep
Play SMT. Press Turn system makes everything better.
they keep saying that
at this point it'll have a longer development time than duke nukem forever
but it won't be an ass sandwich like DNF
the fact that the initials for that game are the same as Did Not Finish makes me wonder if this is all an elaborate april fools gag for 2012
you know
just in time for the apocalypse
Everything about lightsaber combat in that game was stupid.
I am willing to give you a couple of dudes with that lightsaber-resistant armor and weapons.
When ever last motherfucker in the game has it, you have breached my suspension of disbelief.
play Shin Megami Tensai because that sounds enjoyable
oh yeah
It's as close to a WRPG as JRPGs get, since it focuses on alignments and player-decided paths and what not.
The core series at least.
I will probably buy it on day 1
always bet on Duke
Making the player the villian was a neat twist.
But yeah, most combat encounters and lightsaber combat in general need a lot more work.
I knew it
you're one of those guys
listen if you could play that game as a full blown jedi with all the powers of one, your game would last about half a minute
maybe longer if everybody else you fought was also a jedi
concessions have to be made for the sake of gameplay
well, that'll be a fine way to celebrate your 50th anniversary, won't it
Probably why Growlanser II is my favorite SRPG.
I will gather my grandchildren and great-grandchildren around to watch
And upon completing the game, I will have completed my life as well, and will pass on peacefully to the next world

also Dragon Age looks pretty neat
And Rachel's of course looking forward to Mass Effect 2 and I look forward to watching her play through it like six to eight times
gotta finish that sometime
very unforgiving game
But you may have noticed that every fight in that game was you versus three to five people.
That's bad design, especially for a game that's trying to convince you that you are a jedi.
Copy/pasting a rule system designed for medieval melee weapons onto lightsabers and blasters is lazy, and sucks.
The only time the combat made any sense to me was in that Dark Jedi academy.
nah
Yeah, that part was definitely nice.
so what then, would you have done
explain how the combat could be made better
I've mentioned it before, but apparently if you pick the 'evil' trait for a sim they get actions like 'evil sleep'

If you enjoyed it, that's cool.
It disappointed me because it didn't give me what I wanted out of it.
That's probably my own fault.
BOOB TRAP
my wife will probably pick it up
I played the first one, and man, I was addicted to it until I realized how inane it felt to me
not that I'm condemning it or its fans, but jesus, I was obsessed with my little man getting a promotion and nailing his hot redheaded neighbor
and when you're more concerned with the life goals of a tiny gibbering computer man than your own, it's time to lay off the juice.
Are you really still butthurt because I made fun of how you hate your own penis?
