Fable 2/3: Fable 3 coming out Oct. 26th. PC version sometime after. Internet babies!
General Fable 2 Information here.. The old thread is locked which means I can't quote the OP which also means I am not remaking that entire OP. So just click that link right there if you want Fable 2 information.
The really big important majorly huge dramatic announcement is….wait for it...the release date for See the Future! It will be available May 12th on Xbox LIVE for 560 MS Points for the premium content package. Fable II is available exclusively on Xbox 360 and is rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB and PEGI 16+.
The new content will have "dog personas":
Of course, what would travel be without a trusty companion? The Fable II dog returns with three alter egos to guide players on their quests to see the future, in the form of a Dalmatian, Bloodhound or Husky.
In addition, it seems free content downloaders will be able to get some items this time, including a new hero gesture and the dog backflip.
In addition to fantastical new quests, creatures, characters, events and legendary artifacts, See the Future also offers free unique items* to all, including a unique soldier helmet, braided ponytail hairstyle, psycho Jester make-up, a new hero expression, the back flip trick for canine companions, and a collectible Murgo the Trader gold statue.
They're probably still not tradable.
Also in celebration, Fable 2 will have a Free Gold weekend:
Created specifically for Fable II fans, this Multiplayer Unlocked Weekend will be accessible in all LIVE-enabled regions where Fable II is available, starting May 8 at 12:01 p.m. EST, and concluding on May 11 at 11:59 a.m. EST.
And yes, I'm not kidding. 560 points, equaling 7$ US.
I played this through fully on the 360, its definitely a PC game. It controlled ok but everything seemed kinda clunky.
Did anyone really choose not to ressurect
Spoiler:
The dog at the end? I could care less about the family though I started to like my daughter after she grew up but the people who built hte spire went there of their own free, if misguided, will. My doggie? Ill bring him back thanks.
The main villain was very weak, I was waiting for my chance to kill Reaper, why I wasn't given this chance I don't know, hes a much bigger asshole than Lucien.
I killed Lucien before Reaper could which I'm glad of, I didn't know Reaper would kill him but I'd be more annoyed if it was taken away from me.
THe whole dog situation suffered since he and I have suffered much worse than single bullet shots.
Still doesn't seem to be as much freedom and control as advertised, I never noticed camps or anything springing up because I allowed them to live apart from the obvious one you can invest in.
The people following you everywhere, even into your home and blocking your path? That got fucking annoying fast, don't know how that made it through QA.
Character morphing...I'm not sure what hapenned htere. I was really trying to be good but I never got that high up the meter so I stayed relatively normal but was covered in open wounds because of my corruption because trying to turn a profit is corrupt, apparently. I certainly liked the idea but anything that isn't just clear and cut good results in you becoming more and more ugly. Its kind of irritating. Add to that your guy looks very generic and ugly himself and that he can get significantly fat from one or two items and it gets pretty hard to look at the guy.
I dunno about anyone else but it seemed excessively hard to find decent looking clothes, every merchant seemed to be selling the same noble mans shirt, pants, whatever. I ended up having to go shirtless with tat's to make him look half decent.
I only bothered with marriage at the end but I will admit that my daughter became a young girl and I enjoyed seeing her follow and love my character while her baby brother was upstairs.
At the ending though I made the hcoice for my dog and my dog alone. Its so predictable that the dog was going to get killed off and to be honest I didn't feel much at all but he was still my dog. I think they went to so much trouble to keep him out of the way that sometimes you forget hes there. When I came back from the spire and he was waiting after 10 years though? A great moment.
That I wasted 10 years in the spire? Not a great moment.
Still too many hubs and thus loading.
Overall I had fun but I wish they understood that I don't want to have to look like an ugly, old bastard in my games or be covered in blue veins jsut for trying to access more powerful spells.
The spell system I won't go into but it doesn't work well, you have to pay too much attention to that bar than whats going on.
So yeah, was nice, just waiting for the PC port about October () so that i can get a bit wilder and possibly have more saveds without different accounts and less loading times (even while installed).
It seems like Molnyeux cut a lot, nothing announced but it definietely seems short/cramped and empty. I mean maybe my perspective is skewed but there seemed to be bugger all real side quests just the odd repeatable ones and the jobs.
I've been jonesing to replay this game through as an evil gunslinger character. First time through I was neutral throughout, but eaked out to the good side near the end. Stupid halo, I fucking hate that thing it looks so bloody lame. I guess I could kill a few people off to get rid of it though. My biggest problem with the game was the ease at which you could make an uber character. Literally I had everything maxed out by the time I finished, I'm sure that that isn't uncommon.
I chose to...
Spoiler:
Resurrect everyone that died during construction of the tower. It was a difficult choice, but one that I know my character would make and also the choice I'd make in "real life" if this sort of thing was possible. While I am personally not that selfless, the woman I love would feel obscene amounts of guilt knowing that her life was restored instead of thousands of others. Also, as much as I love my dog IRL, I couldn't choose the relatively short life of an animal over thousands of human lives. Sure, it's a video game but whenever I play these sort of games, the first time through I make choices based on what I would do.
I think I'll buy some M$ points and play this through again at some point, but I need a bigger HDD first. 20 gig FTL D: Why are your HDD's so expensive M$?!
i finished this just the other day, with my dude completely evil and corrupt. he's got massive horns, and red cracks all over his dark head. i use this huge battle axe that does 99 damage and my master flintock rifle that deals 102. i also have the inferno, swords, and lightning skills maxed, and all other skills at level 3 or above. i really, really want strength lvl 5, since i constantly ate pies in the beginning and my dude's been a gordo for a while.
Spoiler:
in the end, since i'm supa evil, i choose the cash. when i found out it was only 1 mil, i was pissed. i make that in like, a few days thanks to all the property i own.
best way to go evil: get married, have kids. murder your wife. get kids taken away. rent house they used to live in out to poor folks at the maximum rent. i have never felt like such a bastard before in my life.
I will definitely pick this up in the near future. You see that? See what I did there? Future. Im good.
But really. Post some opinions if you guys happen to play it soon. Id like to know how it is. (Ill buy it regardless but Id like to know whats up with it.) I didnt even know it was comng out until like 5 days ago and I was like "Howd I let this slip by? I never heard about it ANYWHERE!" So it really surprised me to say the least and thus I know nothing about it. So do let me know!

i'm mostly curious about the 'future' part of it.
the kotkau review wasn't exactly glowing, and the hint towards the future is contained in one short cinematic supposedly.
This is AWESOME. I bought it, and I'll give a mini-review. First off, this is how I finished my Fable 2 game, so you have an idea of how I'm going into this.
Spoiler:
I chose the needs of many, and now have no dog and no family. I married a whore, and I am a totally self loathing hero. I like playing the game with the mindset of actually living out my heros life, and he's not a killer, so therefore I haven't brought my dog back to life. I know it seems dumb, because it's just a game, but I have the most fun living out my tragic hero story. He's a good guy, did all the right things, and married a whore to dull the pain. He misses his dog, and his first family, and continues to do what's right hoping for something awesome. It's fun to go into bars and get real drunk and steal, or threaten some people, but I don't cheat on the whore wife, and I don't murder.
I have a second charecter (who's just about to go into the spire) for being a complete asshole. But so for this playthrough I have NO DOG.
So immediately, I loaded this up, and since the game was over the 1st quest appeared. I didn't make it there for an HOUR, because it unlocked an achievement right away for having a ton of sex. The achievements in this DLC feel like achievements that SHOULD have been in the normal game - find all demon doors, stuff like that. So I spent a good hour grabbing achievements because I was already almost there. It was fun - I actually decided NOT to teleport since it had been so long since I last played with my main hero, that I walked all the way from Bloodstone to Bowerstone, just re-learning things and unlocking some new achievements.
Then I actually did the first story, and it was awesome. I have no idea how many stories there are, and without spoilers I will say that the first one is bigger than Knothole was (at least it FEELS bigger), and already has had more re-playability.
I finished the main quest in maybe a half-hour to 45 minutes, but then EASILY spent another half hour looking at things again (because the stage changes as you progress), before I left because I didn't want to re-visit one section (just because I wanted to get back into the real world, not because it sucked).
Some highlights:
-Very funny. The descriptions are great.
-The stuff Murgo gives you just for walking up seem to foreshadow where this DLC will end, and it looks awesome.
-A return of the most fucked-up thing in Fable 2, and it is even MORE fucked up.
-I finally got a second fucking puny carrot so I can go get something from The Box Of Secrets. FINALLY.
So thats all so far. It may seem like I'm overhyping it, after only putting like 2 hours into it and playing through the first part, but for the price, it's ALREADY better than Knothole was.
Also - Im not sure if its part of the free download, but Murgo also gives you the Dog Backflip, and the Hat-Headband-Moustache games, previously only available by playing the Pub Games in XBLA, so now you can go get your completionist achievements.

Spoiler about the very first things Murgo gives you, for free.
Spoiler:
Braveheart make-up, and then a spartan/military type helmet and a colonial military type shirt (like the redcoats! With a big backpack and stuff), with the description that they were fashioned based off a painting by some guy, who used to paint what he called "visions of the future". Since I only got the helmet and shirt, Im assuming I will eventually get a full colonial military style outfit, and that the future of Fable will be more RTS styled, Civilization type stuff.

Ah dammit, I actually used one of the items, and it looks way different than it did on the card. I changed my original post, but you have forever preserved my error.
And I have no idea, I just know that kotaku article said it foreshadows big changes to the series, and thats my guess.

war, or in some means a military. so, maybe fable is going MMO? i'm not fond of the RTS idea, so i hope it's not that.
maybe the next one will have huge skirmishes where you can take your character into battle? the possiblities.... DAMMIT MOLYNUEX

Dont get too excited. You know that half of what you think wont be in the game and the other half will only be half as good as you thought.
Spoiler:
Ok Im sorry. I couldnt help it. I still love you Fable and Fable 2. I just cant help but pick on Molyneux

I'm mostly saying that they're barely just managing to get this series going in the right direction, I overlook its flaws because I like the basic idea. Its not the time to be changing up the genre.
i'd much prefer they did a straight up sequel to the 'fable' franchise, maybe again moving forward in time to add a few new things, and then let molyneux run wild with his ambition in a seperate game for "fable: kart racin' mages" or what have you.

Indeed, I play Fable because it's a nice, light action RPG. Molyneux better not get too carried away and change the whole premisse of the Fable series. Hell, I'd rather see him ressurect BC instead.
Section 2 seemed shorter than section 1, but was actually more fun, albeit much more simple. BUT - after defeating the area I roamed around a bit, and then came across what looks like the coolest thing Ive seen in Fable. I deleted a spoiler I typed because honestly you just should see it. Get the DLC, its worth it.

I figured it was just hints about the setting of the future, being much more war-based. Or perhaps you get to chose a country you come from and the first half of the game is you as a soldier from that country then from there it opens up. Or they are just fucking with us.

I seem to recall that Molyneux said in some interview that he entertained notions of taking the Fable series into some other directions. I guess I'm just afraid that he will get one of his "inspirations" and remake the entire series just because he feels like it.
The RTS or MMO or whatever stuff is entirely speculation from people who have absolutely no connection to Lionhead. I wouldn't go worrying about that until it's actually announced.
So I just saw the future. It is by far the most interesting, and yet at the same time pointless, thing in the game.
It's really really cool how they do it, but I honestly didn't understand it at all, and I really was focused after reading what Kotaku said about it. Either I'm not up on my Fable lore, or I missed something, because I really don't have any idea what's going to happen in the future.
So now all I have left is that Colosseum mode thing, which I haven't entered but looks fun.
All in all, assuming Colosseum adds a lot of replay value like I've read it has, this is EASILY worth the price. The 1st 2 stages were really fun and cool, and it's a shame that seeing the future was just kind of a very short little blurb, because it looks really neat. But I cant stress enough I'm not walking away feeling cheated - I'll be popping Fable back in tonight when I get home to run around with my new stuff and get some achievements. It's a no-brainer purchase if you liked Fable 2 (whereas I'd say Knothole was kind of a waste...)
Also - once other people get it, post the 'future', because Im really curious if how I played the game had any bearing on what happened, or if we all get one future. (There's a little speech that kinda makes it sound like we're all gonna get the same future...)

I'm still looking for someone to help me snag the Completionist achievement, so if you can do so please let me know. It's the only one I have left for the base game.
You go to the spire (Murgo keeps giving you cursed objects, and the last one is a cursed model spire. You do magic with it or something, and youre transported to the real one), and Theresa is there and says welcome back. There's all this stuff going around, whisps in the air, and she says that everyone got something from the spire, including her. She gained the ability to look through all of time, and all reality and all dimensions, and she noticed something. At certain points, they intersect, meaning that event is critical no matter what you've done (which I think is a neat way of saying that if you were a guy or girl, evil or good, doesn't matter - this event happens in all lifetimes). Then she says that she knows none of that is why you're here -- you just want to see your own future. So take her hand.
I did, but Im wondering now if I could have shot her or booked out of there or something.
Anyways it looks like a cutscene, and it was my guy all dressed like a king. She says she sees an old king, weary from age. They aged my guy, which was cool. And she says that he's made a billion decisions about wars and peace and blah blah. A light kicks on in front of you, and that's when I realized I could move around. So I walked forward and it was actually really sweet. Lights kept kicking on and on either side of me was my army. And she explains these are your soldiers who fought for you and Albion. Theyre all cheering and it's really really cool. So finally they end, and I keep walking and she says, now your subjects. So its villagers all in front of me, and I tried doing expressions, and I could. It was pretty cool to do the fist pump and have a huge crowd go wild. She says they trust you and you're a great king.
So at this point Im thinking, cool, the other 2 places let you run around and stuff, I can't wait to beat up whoever's ass I have to kick in the future, and then just pelvic thrust in front of my subjects. So you get past the subjects and its your throne, and you can't move your guy anymore, and she says, this is your throne where you made all your decisions and blah blah. Then she goes...
BUT NONE OF THIS MATTERS.
And it cuts to her standing next to a baby crib. And she says, all that matters is your child. For it is your child, who is not yet born, that will ultimately determine the fate of Albion, and Aurora.
Then it cuts you back to the spire and Theresa says she knows none of this makes sense now, but it will in a few years (FABLE 3), and that she is always watching over her 'little sparrow'. Then you teleport out.
You do get to keep the crown and king outfit, which is sweet to run around in.
So I have no idea if I SHOULD know what or who Aurora is, and was kinda bummed that the whole 'See The Future' stage is a straight line, that had I held down the A button and ran through would have taken under 10 seconds. But the look to it is very cool, and it was a really awesome feeling when I realized I could interact with everyone cheering on the sidelines.

Sounds ok, least it makes it sound like its not going to change the game style its just giving a hint of what you will be playing as in the third game. Which hopefully won't take a year to come out on PC again.
Now that Ive thought about it a little, I actually really hope what it was getting at for Fable 3 was:
Spoiler:
Its going to be YOUR child. It will use your gamesave from Fable 2 to keep the way you put the world, your stats and such, into how your child looks and acts, and possibly even use your character model as someone in cut scenes and stuff.
Also, although I doubt it matters because she says your child isnt born yet, I wonder how different it is if you finish the game unmarried.
XBL: MXrox - PSN: mxmarks - "Yes, mxmarks is the King of Queens" - Unbreakable Vow
My child is half-zombie. Because I wanted the achievement and convincing my friend to get her avatar pregnant didn't work. I also couldn't get her to do the vulgar gesture achievement. But the annoyed "no"s were worth the questioning.
Also. Im so damn happy they gave me the doggy back flip right off the bat. How awesome is that? I finally got the Completionist achievement. I didnt get the premium Future add-on yet but you still get the backflip in the free version so way to go guys that was an excellent idea!

It's good to see that they're giving that out for free, as technically they violated Microsoft's achievement policy for achievements... though assuming you know somebody with it, you could still get it. Which is why I guess they were able to get it under the radar. Or MS just didn't care.
Either way, if you need it as I stated before, or the doll ones, whenever I dig up the game again, and get to this DLC (Clearing Fallout 3's atm)... I'll be around with that same offer. DON'T PM now though, my inbox is nearly full.

Does anyone want that?
Ah dammit, I actually used one of the items, and it looks way different than it did on the card. I changed my original post, but you have forever preserved my error.
And I have no idea, I just know that kotaku article said it foreshadows big changes to the series, and thats my guess.
maybe the next one will have huge skirmishes where you can take your character into battle? the possiblities.... DAMMIT MOLYNUEX
I just thought it was the cool thing to do on these boards.
Dont get too excited. You know that half of what you think wont be in the game and the other half will only be half as good as you thought.
To the people that PM'd me RE: Dollhouse and other achievements. I remember yous... vaguely. PM me again later, when I have the game up and running.
So I hope thats not what it means.
As much fun as the game is, it's just... sloppy.

Now.
Also, although I doubt it matters because she says your child isnt born yet, I wonder how different it is if you finish the game unmarried.
Though the
You got me.
Also. Im so damn happy they gave me the doggy back flip right off the bat. How awesome is that? I finally got the Completionist achievement. I didnt get the premium Future add-on yet but you still get the backflip in the free version so way to go guys that was an excellent idea!
Either way, if you need it as I stated before, or the doll ones, whenever I dig up the game again, and get to this DLC (Clearing Fallout 3's atm)... I'll be around with that same offer. DON'T PM now though, my inbox is nearly full.
I'll probably be done with FO3 in the week.
