We will be using the following variants for this game:

Official "no-sympathizer" variant: There is no sympathizer in this game. Revealed cylons draw 3 cards per turn instead of 2. Humans start with fewer resources.
Thirty-Three: If this card is shuffled back into the deck, it is shuffled instead into the top five cards.
Cylon Damage Reveal: One possible cylon reveal action is to draw damage tokens and choose 2 to resolve. In this game he draws 4 tokens (instead of 5).

Guidelines for posting: [These will be updated as appropriate.]

    1) All visible text after this post will be in character! Everything else should be included at the bottom of your posts as a spoiler tag. The game board, crisis cards, etc will be given the same way.

    2) Official actions should be posted in cyan. Once I've seen an in-turn action in cyan, it is final.

    3) Questions about the game mechanics should be in orange. I'll respond in the same way.

    4) Some actions won't always require role-play (for example, contributing 0 cards to a check outside your skill set, choosing a multi-draw, or choosing which raiders activate first). In this case, feel free to simply post your action inside a spoiler tag. Of course, role-playing is fine, too.

    5) You may want to pause a narrative and continue after receiving the results of an action (e.g. describing the success/failure of an attack). In this case, please use <to be continued...> so that I don't finish the narrative for you. I'll do die rolling by hand, so don't bother with invisiblecastle or anything.

    6) You do not need to role-play in PMs to me (unless you really want to).

    7) Feel free to use NPCs (including the characters not being played) in your posts.

    8) Communication is still important! Use in-character conversation to discuss choices and describe strength of skill check contributions. In your spoiler post, you may include "a little" or "a lot" on your contribution, but *ONLY* those two phrases. Keep other communication to a minimum and use my narrative cues to interpret the choices on a crisis card.

Your first post should introduce your character and should include (in spoiler) your initial card draw. Loyalty cards will be sent out shortly.

Humanity has met near-total annihilation. With no home to return to, what few survivors there are have gathered around the Battlestar Galactica in one final bid for survival. Newly appointed President Laura Roslin has rallied the remainder of humanity into a common cause: locating the fabled planet Kobol, and from there, following the thirteenth tribe and settling Earth. Her term was a short one. Soon after the fleet set out from the ruins of Caprica and the other colonies, a cylon attack took fleet by surprise. There were both casualties and loss of resources, and Roslin herself was injured in the attack. She remains in Galactica's sickbay battling both critical wounds and rapidly spreading breast cancer. To fill her place, the highly controversial Vice President Gaius Baltar has taken control of the Quorum of Twelve. There are pockets that resist him however, including the supporters of Quorum member (and convicted terrorist) Tom Zarek.

The Galactica, the strength and hope of every ship in the fleet, is led by its stalwart admiral, William Adama, who quickly rose to the task of defending the remainder of humanity alongside his most trusted friend and officer, Colonel Saul Tigh. The pair have preserved the fleet despite numerous attacks by the cylons, thanks in no small part to Captain Lee Adama, William's son. Lee, or as he's known to the pilots, "Apollo", has turned a handful of obsolete Vipers into the biggest weapon that humanity holds. Will it be enough to hold the cylons at bay? Or is more of humanity destined to die for the cause, as did the previous captain, Karl Agathon?

My fellow citizens of the twelve colonies, I was deeply aggrieved to learn of the president's injuries, in these time of trouble, we need our leaders to show us the way. I will work closely with acting president Gaius Baltar, so that humanity survives this time of troubles and finds a new home.

However, we have learned from military sources that cylons are masquerading as humans. Stay on your guard, but do not fall into paranoia. We need to pool our strength while we root out those impersonators. The fate of mankind is at stake.

This was Tom Zarek, speaking from Colonial One.

Having survived my Raptor getting shot down, I'm currently holed up back on one of the original colonies. I have enough rations for a few days, but if the dehydration doesn't get me within a week the cylons will. I know that the only way to survive is get off this frackin' planet, and pray to the gods that I find someone somewhere whose guts aren't made of metal.

I have a plan in mind that involves, shall we say, a bang up of a diversion, which should allow me to access one of the few remaining human vessels on the planet. If it works I'm jumping right out of here and will be doing my best to be simultaneously invisible from the cylons and easy to find for the humans.

People of the fleet, as your acting President I promise to uphold the Articles of the Twelve Colonies and that all consideration is given to your quality of living, because even now, especially now, in these trying times, there cannot be a choice between your liberties, your freedom, and your safety. I am currently aboard the Galactica to ensure that the Admiral continues to uphold the Articles he swore an oath to defend.

This has been... President... Gaius Baltar, and I thank you for listening.

Admiral William Adama walked through the corridors of the Galactica with a purpose, signature scowl on his face. He had been summoned from his quarters to the bridge. Evidently something needed taking care of, and it was urgent.

"Hello, Saul. What have we got today?" Adama picked himself up and hunched over the center consoles in the bridge.

"Hey there, Bill. I have bad news. Agathon's raptor has not returned. We've received positive reports of it having been shot down over Caprica. That's not to mention those Frakking toasters have caught up with us again."

"They never do stop, do they, Saul?"

"They're machines, Bill. They're not programmed to stop."

"So they're not." Adama chuckled. "Get Lee on the line. We're gonna need someone out there to lead a CAP against the cylons, and make sure we send out rendezvous coordinates with every scouting raptor. We need to keep this fleet together, and I don't plan on leaving Helo behind."

    "Yes, sir."

Saul Tigh stood at the CIC command table scanning through the latest reports, it seems Helo was shot down over Caprica; Another good pilot lost to those frakking Cylons. At least it was all quiet here in the fleet...

"DRADIS contact!" Gaeta yelled over from tactical, "One Cylon Basestar and its launching Raiders."

The grizzled Colonel barked back, "Set Condition One and launch Alert Vipers!".

As the klaxons blared to life, Tigh glared up at the DRADIS console and watched the action unfold.
Was going to do my intro on my turn, but meh.

Also, anyone notice we dont have a support character...? D:

Set Condition One throughout the ship. Repeat, set condition one throughout the ship. All hands to battle stations.

Lee snapped up from his briefing on the rescue mission back to Caprica. Something was happening.

"Move, people. Alert fighters to the hangar deck. Starbuck, you're with me." Apollo hurried out of the ready room and donned his flight suit in a matter of mere seconds. He came into the hangar deck at a full run. "Chief, the aft starboard thruster nozzle had better be fixed."

"You're good to go, Captain. Good hunting."

    "So say we all, Chief."

Apollo's Viper comes to life underneath him as he punches through the pre-flight routine and launches out of Galactica's Bow launch tube.

"Galactica, this is the CAG. Starbuck is on my wing, and we have visual confirmation on your DRADIS contacts. Confirm one, repeat, one Cylon basestar and three raiders. Requesting orders."

A Geminese religious fanatic, upset about the removal of Laura Roslin from office, has been noted aboard Galactica. Having arrived several days ago, he has spent as much time as possible stirring up as much discontent as possible. This, of course, is nothing unusual since President Baltar taking office, but this young man has allegedly started suggesting a coup. Tigh decides that the man is worth keeping a closer eye on, and wants his movements within the fleet tracked...

As midnight approaches, I check the batteries in my remote detonator one last time. I have all my supplies, and I'm getting a green light, so all I can do is hope that the plastique has not been found.

I slowly crawl my way towards the space port, making good time. As the clock approaches one, I observe that the cylons have only one guard nearby, and I see no movement in either of the two remaining vessels. The time for action is finally at hand.

I trigger the detonation, and feel a faint rumble in the ground as a staccato shock echoes out from the cityscape. The slow sound of thunder that follows mean that I was able to take out the support structures that I wanted. The metalhead turns toward the blast, and I move closer in. I pray to the gods that he doesn't stick around.

The seconds creep by. Just as I'm about to spring towards it in a last ditch effort to take it out with my pistol, the robot thunders off toward the diversion. Truly fate has smiled upon me.

I immediately bolt to the nearest raptor, and climb in. Closing the hatch behind, I take just enough time to make sure it's sealed, then strap myself in and begin the ignition sequence. I don't see anyone or anything moving by the time I'm done, so I leave the other craft alone, in the off chance that I'm not the last human on Kaprika. No sense in ruining someone else's chance of escape.

I make it out of the atmosphere before I think they spot me, which gives my raptor enough time to plot a safe random jump out. I hope I can find a human out there somewhere, but even if I don't at least I died trying.
1 card, it helps a little.

"Apollo, this is Galactica Actual. Continue your course aft and protect the fleet at all costs." Adama's eyes narrowed as he turned around quickly.

"All batteries, commence suppressive barrage on the raiders until those Basestars are in range. Let's give our birds all the help they can get." He looked down and breathed a heavy, but swift, sigh.

"Excuse me, Bill, you might want to take a look at this..." Colonel Tigh said, stepping closer to Adama.

    "What is it?"

"Gaeta just brought me these reports... seems we might have a bit of an issue with our little 'visitor' this afternoon."

Proper spelling of Frak is as such, also, i believe it's Six printed on the crisis card for the visitor, from the episode which spawned "NO MORE MISTER NICE GAIUS"

For the sake of making the story more continuous, I might change the events depicted on the cards. Many pairs of cards refer to the same episode and I don't want to be jumping around. When in doubt, ignore what's on the crisis cards.

We'll go with frak as the infinitive, and frakking (or frakkin', depending on the speaker and usage) for the present tense and adjective.

While Helo continues his daring escape from Caprica, the rest of the Galactica notices something strange on DRADIS. In addition to the three raiders baring down on the fleet, a fourth raider suddenly jumps into the system, near the basestar. As command watches, it flies around erratically before jumping away, only to return mere seconds later. Lieutenant Gaeta suggests that there may be more meaning to its movements than is clear at first glance, and that analyzing the patterns might help the fleet avoid another potential encounter with the cylons.

After the first jump away from Caprica, I decided that my best chance at finding any humans would be to return to the system at random intervals, transmit my MIL-ID and next expected return time in an encrypted burst, wait 1 minute for any response, then jump out.

Of course right after my first jump in, my jump out puts me on a collision course with a raider. The best laid plans...

I manage to pull up just enough to turn the head on collision into a glancing blow, but it's still enough that I don't regain control of my trajectory for almost a full minute.

    "Oh frak...Oh frak...OH FRAK! Where'd he go...WHERE IS HE?!"

There's no sign of the raider, or any other ships for that matter, on the DRADIS. Suddenly, a ship jumped in, only 300 yards away. It spun awkwardly, appearing damaged, and jumped back out again. 2 minutes later, the same ship appeared, hung around for only slightly longer, then jumped out. After the 4th time the same ship kept jumping back, I at least figured I was safe. I wasn't sure I wanted to look into it too closely, but I figured I had some time to decide.

    I pre-plotted a jump, just in case.
I'd like to go for the check, looking for just a little discussion

Fiddling with the console, Gaeta looks back in puzzlement. "A-uh... Admiral, sir, we're getting an odd sort of encryption coming from this Raider. It..."

"Spit it out, Gaeta. What's it say?"

"Well, sir, it almost looks like it's broken. The transmissions look similar to other cylon frequencies, but it's cutting out frequently... it's almost like it's speech is slurred. I may be able to decode it, but I'll need some time."

    "Get started, Mr. Gaeta."

Sitting in his lab, Baltar skims over a copy of Gaeta's report, looking for patterns to the transmissions. "Why would anyone conjecture that *I'd* know anything about this gibberish?" he mumbled to himself.

"Well, you *are* the genius here, after all. What, is this too difficult a task for you?" Six slid up to Gaius with a look of mock pity on her face.

"And I was just wondering where you'd run off to," Gaius groaned. "I found it very peculiar that I was getting uninterrupted work done." Six just stared at him with a smug look on her face. Gaius broke the silence. "I don't suppose *you're* about to make yourself useful and tell me what any of this means, are you?"

"Trust yourself, Gaius. And trust God to help you find your answers."

Gaius flung himself back in his seat. "And there we have it! My day is officially complete now! Thank you so much for your words of encouragement now if you'll excuse me, I have real work to do!"
Gaius contributes 1 card, helping a little.

With a nod from the Admiral, Tigh turned to Lt Dualla at communications, "Dee, order Apollo to close with the Raider but not to engage. If does anything hostile, take it out!"
1 card this will help a lot.

After three jumps in and out from the raider, I've been able to make 2 good read-passes at it. I decide that this is about all that I dare to stick around, plus the time for my next Caprica appearance is getting close. With no weapons on board, I leave the raider to the gods and jump out.

Gaeta finally shoves a finished report into the hands of Colonel Tigh. "Got it! He's calling for help, all right. Now we just have to get out of here before any more of them show up."

"Galactica, Apollo. Lost contact on raider Gamma. Repeat, Lost contact on raider Gamma. Not sure where he went, sir... he jumped away and hasn't returned. Doesn't look good, sir." Apollo switched to short-range radio, "Starbuck, patrol here for a bit until we're sure he's not coming back, then rendezvous with me aft of Galactica. I'm going to intercept those raiders."

Apollo goes to full burn to put himself between the civilians and the approaching raiders that had not jumped away.

Without warning, power to the CIC flickers, dies, and kicks back on. "What the frak was that?" growled Tigh.

"Cylon virus, sir," responded Gaeta. "We're on auxiliary power now. Looks like messing with those transmissions activated some sort of dormant code in our systems. If our backup systems are clean then I think I can fix it, but it's not going to b-."

Gaeta is cut off as all the lights, consoles, and computers in the room go dead.

    "Report Status!" barked the Admiral.

"Scanning subsystems. Attempting to get emergency power back up."

Tigh groaned. "We better hope the cylons don't notice that we're just floating out here.

But in the dark, a cylon transport ship hurtles through its collision course with Galactica...
