Central florida has had nothing but terrible weather all week, and while the coastline might be fairing a tiny bit better, here in orlando we haven't seen the sun since sunday afternoon

Gravity works the whole time. The astronauts are just in free fall that whole time. They are moving forward fast enough that they miss the planet as they fall.
