    Good god I just spent an hour reading about pipe threads.

    Because thanks to America there's like 4-5 standards, and I'm trying to work out what the fuck my country uses and what the fuck is appropriate for dealing with gases and such.

    The conclusion seems to be that ISO thread is different to NPT just enough to annoy the fuck out of someone but not quite enough to matter. Thus explaining why every hardware store here sells NPT threads.
