[...] half of World 8 in Super Mario Bros 3 being ludicrously difficult (it's the only Mario game I haven't beaten).
Hi5
I've come damn close too. The point where I eventually said "that's it, screw this" was after playing it all day, making it through all the worlds with almost no deaths and like 30 lives backed up, right to the final level of the game.
And then I died 30 times in a row against those god damn circling flashy ghost things in the very first hallway. I made it past them a few times only to not be able to figure out what to do in the next part. Most soul-crushing defeat ever.
You do know about the 1->8 warp right? That's what it's there for.
Sometimes I used it, other times I didn't.
And I just beat it today using the level 8 warp after a few game overs. Turns out that Bowser's Castle is ridiculously easy and I was probably just really nervous playing it from the pressure of "holy shit I made it to the last level".
online included: omg friend codes lag nintendo u suck
online excluded: omg no online nintendo u suk
And what does this teach you?
That Nintendo should do online and do it right. People wouldn't complain about lag and friend codes if Nintendo didn't have them.
So I guess Nintendo writes shitty netcode, but if they just don't want to bother with it (the code is shit, right?) they're "hiding behind excuses". Maybe they just don't want to waste time on netcode. Online is not the end all be all of gaming. Implementing online modes have actual budget and time ramifications, you do not just go "ONLINE!" and it magically happens.
So Nintendo should just ignore online because they don't feel like it?
Asking for decent online support in 2009 isn't that wild of a concept.
or maybe we need to stop feeding the publishers the notion that every single game needs an online mode when every single game does NOT need an online mode. My last 3 games I have bought have no online modes and they are just as playable as the games WITH online.
Fallout 3 doesn't need an online mode.
NSMB Wii would benefit from one, considering it's all about a multiplayer experience in a Mario game.
SMB3 had better art, however where SMW shined was the music. I put them about the same for level design - while the art was a bit bland for SMW, those star road levels were magnificent
The best song is that really fast-paced one that plays in that mountain level near the start. I'm sure it's in other levels too but that's the only one I remember off the top of my head.

Well don't forget that every song in SMW had a track of bongos that only played while riding yoshi. So every song was dynamic in that regard.
I gotta be honest though, speaking of music, I really did not like the over world music of NSMB. The little bob the enemies did to the tune was kinda cute at first, but that music just really bored me. I feel like i only remember that game have 2 tracks, that new track, and the classic underworld theme.
I'm kind of surprised they arent releasing a version for the DS also. It would be cool if you could play on the wii through the DS just like Crystal Chronicles.
Yoshi's Story is another game that would benefit from this kind of overhaul, that game was awesome. Though I'm glad Yoshi is back as a mount, he's been slacking lately.
Also, I wonder if Peach/Daisy will be unlockable characters?

There are at least two versions of the new theme, as in Super Mario World. One normal, and one faster ("athletic" as referred to by Nintendo). There's also the new castle theme.
Can I just say that I really don't like how Yoshi has looked every since Yoshi's Story? I liked him when he had the longer neck and looked a little less cutesy, and also when his "saddle" was actually flat and it didn't look like Mario would fall off if he wasn't holding on tightly.

Yoshi was definitely a lot better before he got all prerendered and started talking like a baby.

Pokemon only say their own name. Yoshi's name is not "jibby jibby yah-booooo!".
They really don't. Some pokemon just have peculiar grunts.
Bascially, any sound a syllable makes from the pokemon name is free game.
So a Mantyke could technically say, "can time make"
Well I think almost all the pokemon noises sound retarded too, with a few exceptions, but I can live with them. Yoshi's voice is a crime against humanity.
The sound when you hopped on Yoshi in super mario world was awesome, almost as cool as the "Birdo spitting an egg" noise.

The Yoshi's island noises were great too. Especially the flutter jump.
I, unlike everyone else on the history of the internet, love Yoshi's speaking voice and think his original sound was awful. He looked like he should have a cute speaking voice, not a random...whatever noise. And his voice suits his look perfectly. I like the Toads for the same reason.

Yeah, I dont know. Super Mario World is my favorite game of all time, but I cannot stand yoshi's island. I bought it twice and as much as everyone tells me how awesome it is, I cant get into it. I'm used to having unpopular opinions though.

Well Yoshi's Island is nothing like Mario World. You're throwing eggs and junk, gotta protect a baby, it plays really different. Way slower, in my opinion, and I don't like it as much as other Mario games either.

Yeah, I never quite got the love for it either. It's a good game, don't get me wrong, but compared to others the actual gameplay feels kind of bland. I actually liked the DS sequel a lot more than the original.
Yoshi's Island is the straight up the greatest platformer ever made. Nintendo or otherwise. Yoshi's Story was a disgrace and the DS game was a fucking atrocity and we should talk of them no further.

So apparently, other people's opinions are wrong because they're different from yours.
In my opinion, Yoshi's Story was awesome even though it wasn't as good as Yoshi's Island.
I like Yoshi's Island DS better than the original, but that may be because I haven't played the original much and I thought it was really comfortable playing on my DS.

I didn't say wrong, I said bad. You can think Yoshi's Story and the DS game are good, but they aren't and you're clearly a bad person.
By that logic, you're a bad person because you didn't like Yoshi's Island DS since that game was the best Mario-related platformer to come out in a long time because it actually had challenge, as opposed to SPP and NSMB (I loved NSMB, but the lack of challenge was evident. I finished the game in 5 days! I simply disliked SPP).

I don't know of a 1->8 warp. Do you mean 2->8?
If you use a whistle in world 1 it lets you choose from worlds 2-4. Use a whistle from those, and it lets you choose from 5-7, etc.
So you have to get the two whistles in world 1, beat it, and use both whistles in succession once you get to world 2.
Fallout 3 doesn't need an online mode.
NSMB Wii would benefit from one, considering it's all about a multiplayer experience in a Mario game.
Using one there brings you back to 2-4.

It was Yoshi story that took it all downhill.

I loved how Yoshi Story controlled though, I hated the Yoshi's Island games. Mostly because of the thricedamned babies. I hate them so much.

Ditto. I liked how he looked in SMW way better. But I do like his SMW cry better as well.
I've heard it. I can't unhear it.
I really like you.

It just looks weird when Mario rides the new version of Yoshi.
