The mount changes next patch are going to be redonkulous for alts.
In the next major content patch, we intend to adjust mount requirements to further improve the leveling experience in World of Warcraft. In addition, cast times for summoning all mounts will be reduced to 1.5 seconds, down from 3 seconds. The following is a breakdown of the upcoming cost and level requirement changes we are making for each riding skill.
Apprentice Riding (Skill 75)
* 60% land mount speed
* Requires level 20
* Cost: 4 gold
* Mount cost: 1 gold
* Mail will be sent to players at level 20 guiding them to the riding trainer
Journeyman Riding (Skill 150)
* 100% land mount speed
* Requires level 40
* Cost: 50 gold
* Mount cost: 10 gold
* Mail will be sent to players at level 40 guiding them back to the riding trainer
Expert Riding (Skill 225)
* 150% flying mount speed; 60% land mount speed
* Requires level 60
* Cost: 600 gold (faction discounts now apply)
* Mount Cost: 50 gold
* Can now be learned in Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde)
Artisan Riding (Skill 300)
* 280% flying mount speed; 100% land mount speed
* Requires level 70
* Cost: 5,000 gold (faction discounts now apply)
* Mount Cost: 100 gold
Flying mounts at 60!? 100% speed at 40? Delicious.

I just read this and it is awesome. I almost want to stop leveling my alts just so they can ride fast.
60% at 20 is nice because that's when you usually wrap up Ghostlands or whatever, and you have to go pick up a bunch of flight points to continue.
I wonder did they buff Ahune's level? or did they leave him the same? I know some of his loot is worthless to people at 80. I would like to get the tabards on my mage, hunter, priest and paladin but they are not 80
Other than that and the torch juggling I think I can get the title on my mage fairly easily

More importantly this means never having to footslog through the southern barrens again!
150% flying speed too. That's pretty awesome. I'll wait to buy the skills on my 75 mage till the patch comes. My 51 priest won't feel like a fucking chore leveling now with 100% speed.
Yeah, definitely wasn't expecting that. Pretty neat... might come in handy if I do end up leveling the druid I started in preparation of 3.2 model changes...

Those are the best changes ever. Gonna make leveling alts sooooo much easier.
And man, look at those prices. 5g for regular mount and training, 60g for epic.

File that under 'S' for "Shit that should have happened years ago".
That file's starting to get a bit thick.
Better late than never though, eh?

1.5 second mount times?
160% speed flying mounts at 60?
100% at 40?
Ok I am now stopping all levelage on my alts.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
And fuck man it's like they're giving them away now, what the fuck.
Well, in all fairness, that's how it should be. Sure, when the game started mounts were a big thing and the epic mount was a huuuuge status symbol, but it hasn't been that way for years. I don't want to earn a mount, I've earned mounts on countless alts over the years. Just give them to me, gosh nabbit.
honestly, with all the changes they've made to quests and required xp, you earn a lot less gold while leveling now.
my current alt is blazing through the content so fast that she might not have the gold to train skills if I wasn't funneling cash to her.

outland is gonna be an utter cakewalk now though.
I have the opposite experience. It seems like leveling alts makes me money. I put it down to crafting and judiciously AHing everything that's worth it.
On the one hand, I'm a little bummed because by waiting a while I could've saved a bunch of money on my rogue. On the other hand, holy shit awesome because I get altitis often and in a bad way.
I wonder if they're going to adjust the cost of the DK flying mount? With regular flying available at 60 now, the price tag seems steep. What is it, 950g or something?
Man, I almost feel bad because my warrior just hit 70, and last week I had just bought my epic land mount, and not too far off will be all the flying stuff at 77.
However, the next content patch is like, 4+ months away, so I don'y really feel that bad.

Supposedly much sooner than that.
You can suppose all you want, this is Blizzard we're talking about here.
These changes are only a good thing, and this is coming from someone who's bought all the way up to epic flying mounts twice and up to regular flying on two more characters.
Well, they are technically reducing the cost of Epic flying. It's having home faction (I don't know which, the NPC might be made to be affected by your total Horde rep) applied, so the only way it isn't at least slightly cheaper is if you've somehow leveled to 80 without getting to friendly with the Horde.
fuck yeah at the mount thing, completely surprised me.
especially the cast time, i figured it was just long enough so you wouldn't be able to easily run away.
also holy fuck they'll be cheap

Yeah, that's a big one right there. The difference in speed between normal flying and epic flying was a little absurd.

It's really funny.
Nearly everyone complains about it and some even go so far as to bring up quitting.
The discount for Friendly reputation is 5%, so a level 60 DK would need to pay 950g, yes.
However, the next content patch is like, 4+ months away, so I don'y really feel that bad.

Weapon skill is the easiest damn thing to level. I'm a warlock and have 4 weapon skills at 450.

That's quite a trick
