[MiniPhalla] Prelude to Phallakinetic - Non-psychics win!
Posts
WE WERENT THE MAFIA.
Domarions had to kill psychics.
We had to kill non psychics.
Its not like we had to kill everyone. "Labels" and "Colors" are everything, not what your role pm says. Yep.
It's like in BSG the boardgame when Cylons help humans because they want them to win. Its stupid as hell.
That was until the three of us were killed and returned with Deathbot. Then it was just the latter one.
Looks like I'm grudging Kay, MY MASONED GUARD, for attracting attention with an utterly random post about attacking me that got a null directed their way. I'm not sure if I should grudge azn at this point, but I'm leaning towards 'yes'.
Not going to post my proboard (what would have become the Arcadian non-psychic network) unless someone really wants to see it, no point. One day's worth of action. Whoo.
That whole "reviving as the Deathbot" thing? Awesome. Edcrab, that truly was a wonderful mechanic. Good game overall, too! I had fun
Edit: How odd. I picked some obnoxious colors, trying to play around with the proboard, but nothing seemed to work. Now that I logged off it, the colors are there? Admins can't see color changes? Either way, what bad choices haha.

Am I the only one who thinks so?
Edit: Because if it wasn't obvious, on that day I was trying my hardest to be targeted.
I was paying back you killing me in Ultimate Phalla.
@Trust, a post from Kime on the proboards:

He also stated that THE BEHEMOTH HAD TO KILL ALL PSYCHICS.
Arcadians and Domarians sought to kill the Renegade.
Non-psychics could win by eliminating all psychics, and vice versa. The Domarians (despite having a psychic member) could kill all Arcadian psychics as an alternate objective. The Disciples of the Renegade thought that the Renegade was dead, and they shared the ‘kill all non-psychics’ win condition with the Village’s psychics. Still with me?
To meet their victory condition the Renegade could either kill all the Domarians, which would remove the Renegade from the game, or kill all the Disciples, which would end the game for everyone and technically result in a minor village win (as the Renegade would be rejuvenated and free to screw up another star system).
The Disciples had a role blocker, a guardian, and a back-up role that would inherit the ability of the first Disciple to die. Their group power killed non-psychics outright, but there was a 50% chance that psychics would be converted rather than killed. The only exception was the Renegade, who was immune to both effects and would’ve instead been reintroduced to their former lackeys. So the Disciples were incapable of killing the Renegade or using any form of ability on him.
The Domarians were powerful masons, with a 100% success guardian and a near-perfect seer, and the go-ahead to continue talking amongst themselves even when dead. Although they lacked a true vig kill, their Specialist’s attack increased to 50% potency when used against psychics, the best day-one chance in the game.
The Veteran- Spectrum- lacked combat power but was an automatic seer, being introduced to genuine Arcadian non-psychics every night.
The ex-Councillor- Dunadan- had no real direct powers to speak of but they could double the success rate of another player’s ability.
The Elder- crimsoncoyote- could double or halve the percentage success rate of the attacks focused on one target.
The Village’s ‘generic’ psychics- telekinetic, empath, telepath and precog- all had multiple, low-success rate abilities. Working together, or especially with the likes of the ex-Councillor and the Elder, they’d be able to approximate a normal special.
The Police Officers were guards who siphoned off half of the attacks directed towards their target- but they also had a sacrificial element, as if the attacks were successful, the Police Officer alone would die and their target would survive.
The Soldiers had a better than average attack rate (20%), but could chose to cover a player and auto-attack anyone who attacked that player, and with an increased kill chance to boot.
The Commando’s special ability was that they were entitled to a death action, or a delayed death depending on which way you looked at it.
El Skid, the Detective, was arguably the most powerful seer in the game, but their ability didn’t surface until later. They started with a 30% success rate and increased by 30% every day, so by day 4 they had a 120%-accuracy seer power that would bypass psychic defences entirely (the Renegade’s innate defence and abilities such as guards). Passing himself off as a psychic for so long was just the icing on the cake.
The Renegade had a 30% attack (putting them up there with the Commando and the Domarian Enforcer) which gradually increased if they killed a psychic, or if a Disciple died. Psychic seering attempts (mindscans) were half as effective as normal when used on him, and if an attempt failed the seer in question would be told that the Renegade was a Telepath, an Arcadian Psychic, rather than being informed that they were unsuccessful. The Renegade also had some level of kill-immunity; if the attacks directed towards him were 40% potent or less, they weren’t even calculated.
With this in mind, no one tried attacking or seering Rend for the whole game. No one. By the end he had a 60% attack power and a protracted chain of power-stealing/swapping ended up with him toting the Specialist’s Hostile Psionics ability, giving a whopping 90% success rate versus psychics.
The Renegade was ridiculously powerful for a single role, but then again all but three players (the Disciples) would win if he died and thus pretty much the whole roster would be out to get him. Theoretically, the Domarian’s Specialist could’ve targeted them night one and the game would’ve ended on a coin toss.
I’ll try and get around to posting the PMs soon. In the meantime, feel free to post your own PM if you think I’m being slow and getting in the way of things.
PS., special thanks to Quoth for co-hosting (we mixed and matched material, it’s as much her as it is me) and brainstorming with me for ages before this was finalised, to LaOs for his invaluable input during very early development, and to Rend for randomly PMing me one night with a monologue and starting the trend of supplying the Renegade’s lines in the narration. That’s right, most of what the Rendegade said came from him.
Massive kudos to the Disciples, when two of their number were pretty much new to Phalla as a whole, never mind a rambling experiment like this, and many, many thanks to all the long-suffering players who put up with strange mechanics and slow clarifications. You’re all awesome, and I hope you had fun.
So grudged.
You just... kind of chose wrong. I mean, not that I blame you, I was definitely trying to convince you that the Disciples were the only mafia and whatnot while the game was going on, but in reality they were only one choice for the "bad guys."

What were your win conditions anyway?
To kill non psychics. Like I said.
It was a gambit to distance myself from you, and confuse people that didn't work out, that was all.
Who roleblocked me that night, and why, anyhow? You made it a whoooole lot harder for the Domarians/non-psychics.
I roleblocked you.
Because of that post.
Like Spectrum said. So I'm glad I made it harder for non-psychics.
It, uh, would have been nice if you had told me beforehand that you were going to do that. People publicly organizing to attack ME Day 1 is pretty freaking strange, considering how useful I am to keep around. =/
I could have backstabbed Rend and ended the game on day two.
Not sure why they did that, really. Didn't think a roleblock'd work on an attack power that everyone had, it'd be like losing the ability to vote 'cause of a roleblock. Still, like I said, gambits don't always work out.
We still won! \o/
Not sure if iamtheaznman attacked me or El Skid at the end, though. I was using the defence power on him in the late stages of the game.
If Rend had died first, let's just say the Disciples would've had their own Behemoth-esque development. It wasn't a question of them powering him- it was the other way around. Rend knew this, but obviously wasn't prepared to tell people.
The game would've ended on a coin-toss because of an RNG mechanic from hell. Lots and lots of people could've potentially died.
I'll say no more than that, because I am saving it for the next outing. I'm amazed that the Behemoth ever happened, really.

Psh, burnage was just a regular Arcadian Psychic, who was supposed to be working with me to kill the Renegade, not getting aide from the Renegade.
To be fair, I used Rend to kill two domarians and I ordered the assassination of a disciple. So go me?
