I saw the comic before the newspost or podcast, so for a while I was thinking this was going to be a full project. My first thoughts were "awesome, PA doing a kid's book with (presumably) more depth than most", followed by "shit, what if kids and parents get really interested and decide to check out the Mike and Jerry's other work?"
I am not a forum lurker here...I find them hard to navigate...to find what i am looking for in an organic way. I had to use the search function just to find the thread on today's Lookouts comic. It is possible I am functionally retarded in context of using this forum.
That said, I logged in today to leave this post, in this place, after said absence, having just read the proffered sample(though inaugural, I would hope) of Lookouts to say:
I have little faith that this will be the winner, but in reality, there cannot be a better one to choose. Layering the morality tale of the deep woods over these iconic, yet youthful, rangers who are part of some larger fiction seems to me to be something we have never seen before.
I do not care for CTS. It lacks something that this comic has. Maybe it is depth; maybe not. Maybe it is a story that just needs to be told versus a story that they want to tell.
Maybe I should shut up. I think I have my winner though.

I think we got enough Jim Darkmagic in the D and D casts.
So I think, if Automata blows us away, that it will be a tight race between Lookouts and Automata, with Lookouts winning because it was first. We're going to compare everything else to it.
I would be astonished if the other two comics didn't come to fruition, too.
well like I said earlier, I don't think it's completely unreasonable for us to demand all three be finished. But as of right now, the plan is that whatever wins will be victim to dreaded continuity filler while Gabe and Tycho are at Comic Con. I guess we just have to wait until they have more kids or something so we can get some robots, magicians, and linedancing.
Guys, I like the art and concept a lot, but the ranger's lines in the second to last panel rub me the wrong way something fierce. They grate on my delicate lady like sensibilities!
