[Digital Comics] Funny Books On Your Phones and Tablets! Check OP For Retailers

Are you a Firefox user Hadji? They've been having a ton of Flash errors this week, that may have done it.
Chrome, actually.
Also, I filled out a contact/support form to get my Marvel account linked, and noticed that they claim to have a mobile site. Does anyone have the URL for the mobile site? I'd love to be able to browse my books more easily on my tablet without having to download each individual issue.
For about a week we've been going back and forth with them telling me that my Marvel account doesn't exist, when they decide to reply to me at all.
It does exist! I am using it!
It might not be them! Marvel's service seems to have deleted my digital copy of ultimates #7 sometime since I read it last weekend!
It's honestly the worst service I have ever used. Marvel may be tops creatively, but this is just another clear tell that their business end of things is a fucking circus.
It seems like all recent-release books have been pulled from Marvel's Chrome store, though. Meaning they may be iOS/Android exclusives now.
Then again, maybe this has something to do with their Sunday announcement.
Either way, I am pissed!
Until I own that shit outright, I'm not interested.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're going to be relaunching their web version on sunday.
Here are a bunch of neat comics by some neat creators.
edit-- some of them are NOT SAFE FOR WORK
So last week, before my problem with Marvel's digital codes, I decided to catch up on all the ultimate comics with their free digital copies. So I bought every issue with a code.
Here are my problems so far:
-Comixology can't find my marvel account to link it to their system
-Somehow, Marvel's website ate up my code for Ultimates 7
-My code for Ultimate Spider-Man 7 is actually showing up as being for Ultimates 7
-My code for Ultimate Spider-Man 8 won't show up in my account, just like Ultimates 7
-My copy of Ultimate X-Men 8 also got eaten up by the mystery machine, and is nowhere to be seen.
-I sent a support ticket to Marvel on Friday and have received nothing back yet going into Tuesday morning.
For those keeping count, that is 3 comics lost, 1 comic misprinted, and only 2 that worked successful (and could still disappear like Ultimates 7 did). I'm pretty upset; this is a colossal joke. DC's codes may cost an extra dollar, and they may be much longer, but I have never had a single problem with them so far, and comixology is much nicer than Marvel's redeem website.
But dang, that sucks. Does Marvel have a customer service phone number or email for this?
Man, that sucks. I know the two avenging Spider-man codes ryven gave to me worked fine (I believe I used the web for them). One would hope they would fix it before the whole AvX launch (a new website is much needed). Really sorry to hear that
When you redeem them they take you right to the chrome store to view them.
The comics also tell you to go online to marvel.com/redeem
I was able to "view" all my books. The problem is that many of them showed up as Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited previews, and then weren't in my account.
The weird thing is I assume that if two books are there, and all 6 are from the same two month period, then other books should appear as well. I don't have an android or iphone to test my account on, and I don't even have any friends in town or free time at the moment to borrow one from someone.
Edit: And Marvel's only customer support for it is a form on their website that applies to all of their online stuff. There's not even a specific option for help with Free Digital Copies or the Marvel app, just for the unlimited stuff and general website issues.
possibly try tweeting at Agent M or whatever his handle is (if you have twitter), he might have an idea of a better contact source.
Thanks for this. I tweeted at him. I sent regular Marvel support a second ticket last night, and have still gotten nothing back.
So you'd think the company with the most cash and the most room to innovate would at least be able to keep up.
Well like I said, granted it was only two issues, but the avenging spider-man 1 and 2 codes i used worked fine, no issues.
This new system involves stickers that are printed separately and placed on the book. Also, the coding they use is different as well now. The polybagged books had the book title and issue number at the start of their codes, and these new ones are even shorter and serialized (i.e., every book starts with the same string of numbers).
Waid's been talking for a while about his ideas for digital comics, and it's interesting to see them implemented. I definitely think it has legs.
Reading a normal comic as a CBZ/PDF, while generally fine, can lead to some issues with double-page spreads, tedious scrolling, and that kind of thing.
Waid's approach takes the "guided view" function from programs like Comixology, and makes it simpler, and more dynamic. It maintains the strengths of the guided view, namely the ability to surprise and focus the reader, by only revealing one panel at a time, while discarding the weaknesses that come with awkwardly resizing a panel, originally designed for print.
That said, I've heard artists complain that this robs them of the ability to design the page as a single piece of art. But, given how few artists really do anything interesting or dynamic with their page layouts, I don't think it's an enormous concern.
I will say though, as much as I like the format, the story's pretty standard zombie fare.
But, I'm curious to see what else Waid comes up with, and hope other creators experiment with these kinds of releases. There was a brief period a couple years ago, where creators were selling their old comics as PDFs and CBZs, but it seems to have petered out. The only people who seem to still be following that model, are the guys at Double Feature Comics.

Anyway, new iPad was enough to get me checking out Comixology and I think I may just love it. Grabbed some Amazing Spider-Man while it was on sale today since the ones on sale just happened to be exactly where I left off, on top of Saga #1 entirely on a whim. I'm pretty excited to dive back in like this.
The iPad app seems to work without a hitch, but I can't help but notice that the website doesn't seem to actually work half of the time. Is this a usual problem?

Yeah I can't imagine reading something like Swamp Thing or anything by JH Williams the 3rd in on a format like this or through a guided view ala comixology. That said, I think the complaints are unwarranted for now, we are definitely seeing this in its infancy at the moment. The directions it could go are pretty endless, and you can even get onboard with the infinite canvas if you break from the comixology/pdf model. (I sound like I'm downing comixology a lot,but I really do love it. Especially with an Ipad)
But yeah what the DoubleFeature guys are doing is a huge step in the right direction.
Also, Pearls Before Swine did a really neat app which has the commentary you can listen to and such. But Stephan Pastis did something pretty neat. He does a lot of doodling on the wall of his office. And with the app you can actually scan over the entire wall. Nothing mind blowing sure, but it's a neat way to get into a creator's head.

I've been waiting for this one, just to get those two runs. Woo!
Now if only I had the cash to buy the entire Gauntlet run of Spider-Man when that was on sale the other day...
Are the sales at all predictable? I put it together that Monday sales on Marvel series are a regular occurrence, but the rest have been all over the place.

Marvel does 24 hour sales on Monday and Friday.
DC does sales on Weekends, but they're not every weekend.
The content of the sales is unpredictable. DC does theme sales for specific characters or events, and if it's character based, they'll usually provide a good selection of issues from the entire history of that character. Marvel usually just throws up some titles from the last few years, or an older classic event or mini.
Also, Marvel doesn't drop their prices on issues very often, if ever. Not day and date issues, at least.
I would love to see a Slott essential spider-man reading list. I've been trying to buy his whole run in trade, but even though it's only been going on for a short time, there are already like 8 or 9 volumes. And some are just 3-4 issues for $20, while others are 9+ for $30. It's just ridiculous, in terms of cost. I don't dare go back to the pre-Big Time stuff, even though I've really wanted to read The Gauntlet. Even as 99cent issues, it was still around a $50 purchase, and it would've prevented me from grabbing these Legion titles, which actually complete a run I had started reading in floppies a few years ago.
If you'd like more info on it, here's the Kickstarter that funded the thing.
I've only read four of the stories so far, but they're all pretty awesome.
