MtG Promotional series

Couple of quick questions.

The Promotional series cards are simply the foil ones that you'd occasionally get in boosters or decks, correct?

Assuming that is the case are the astronomical prices for rares from this series accurate? I was on a pricing site that someone had linked in a H/A thread and it listed my foil Serra Angel at just over $830. This doesn't seem quite right to me.

Dude, That isn't right at all. Foil Serra Angel is at least $35

    Sorry, no Godzilla-sized sigs allowed.

Promotional series cards are, I think, ones that are not of the actual set, they're just given out randomly to build hype. Say, for example, for the release of 9th edition. They're not what you'd find in boosters.

There's no decimal point. A website that was cited in the H/A thread had a Promotional Serra Angel listed at $830.00 and from the picture they had it's indistinguishable from my foil Serra and hence my confusion.

That would certianly make a lot more sense. There were a few people who lited other websites after I expressed confusion in the other thread and they listed the foil Serra at closer to $35-$40 which seems much more reasonable.

I knew it was too good to be true. Of course that's what prompted me to question the absurdly high price in the first place

Promo cards are given out to Wizards employees (like the Fruitcake Elemental), at pre-release events (alternate Lotus Bloom, Marit Lage token), big tournaments (wordless Wrath of God), and as prizes for tournaments. They are not part of any sets.
