Getting an Import DS Repaired?

My wife imported a DS from Japan since she liked the colors there better, but now the pins where the charger connects have gotten bent, and I can't fix it myself. I'd send it in to Nintendo to get it repaired, but since it's an import, the website won't accept the serial number, so they won't take it. Is there any way around this? Should I call and speak to an actual person, or would I have to shell out the money to ship it back to glorious Nippon just to get it repaired?

I am assuming you live in the United States.

You should call the Nintendo of America support line and explain the situation to them. here's there Customer Service number, off of their Technical Support page.

i can confirm that their customer service is honestly second to none.

I had an imported GBA that they fixed, now, i will say, the only problem i had is that when they disassembled the case for the gba and put it back together, they didnt have the same color plastic stopper things that go over the screws...

so what i'm saying is there is a slight chance that you may not get your color back 100%. My mana blue GBA had to have dark blue stopper thingys.
