I can't comment much on Golden Globes because I don't watch TV outside of a few series. I'm kinda surprised that Rome isn't getting any nominations, or is it too far in the past? I watched it on DVD, so.

Seriously. It seems that the shows that win all of these aren't the best - as one would generally expect from awards titled "best actor" et. al - but, rather, happen to be the most established, hyped, or the ones with the largest amount of cash behind them. So instead of getting the best shows or movies or actors, we get the established ones with names we all recognize, winning those same goddamned awards over and over again. That's my problem with award shows.
As someone who works on the argis of the entertainment industry I gotta say this couldn't be more true. All the big studios put millions upon million s of dollars in Pr campaigns to get thierfilms awards that are effectively meaningless.

yup. I can honestly say that this season of The Wire is the single best television show I have ever seen, at least in the Drama category.
