Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

I'm still addicted to the DS

So I just finished up M&L3 - fun and funny, but like one review said, not entirely satisfying. Any suggestions for relatively new DS games? I haven't really been paying attention to current releases. My preference is something I can easily pick up and put down, turn-based is good but I also like platformers. RPG-style progression is nice too.

Kingdom hearts has all that stuff. The story is a little weird though.

Already did Hatsworth - awesome (although fuck that final boss in the ear).

I've considered KH, I'm not sure though. I played through a pretty good chunk of the first KH, then after I beat what I thought was the final boss (Riku? Guy after Riku? I forget) it says something like "It's only just begun!" and there's more game and I was like "...ehhh...". Had the same problem with Okami - they spend the entire game building up this huge ancient evil boss dude, then you beat him, and it's like "Good job, but now there's OTHER STUFF going on! Let's go!" Then I can't really be bothered to pick it up again.

So I'm almost done with Layton, should I have finished the robot dog by now? I can't be missing more than one or two pieces. I'm eager to see what it does.

Kind of hoping it sticks with them in the second game, like I'm assembling a main character.

Okay, wait, should I have gotten the last pieces by now? There were no more puzzles in the shack.

It's asking me if I want to enter the house or go back to the village. My file's not going to be inaccessible after I beat the game or anything, is it? Is there any reason to go back to the village?

  • JimothyJimothy Registered User regular
I also haven't finished the painting.

After you beat the house, you can go wherever the hell you want and finish up loose ends.

No matter what you answer, I'm just gonna say that Metroid Prime Pinball is the answer.

There needs to be a page compiled of all the worthwhile DS titles. my library is at about 20 and I know I'm still missing a lot of good games:

    Remakes/Ports:
    - Chrono Trigger (RPG) Port
    - Kirby Super Star Ultra (Platformer) Port/Remake
    - Dragon Quest 4 (RPG) Remake
    - Dragon Quest 5 (RPG) Remake
    - Final Fantasy 3 (RPG) Remake
    - Final Fantasy 4 (RPG) Remake
    - Front Mission () Port

    RPGs:
    - Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days
    - The World Ends With You
    - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
    - Mario & Luigi: Bowsers Inside Story

    Strategy:
    - Lock's Quest
    - Eco Creatures
    - Final Fantasy Tactics A2 (Strategy/RPG)
    - Disgaea (I think, never played but people love it)

    Platformer:
    - The NEW Super Mario Bros
    - The Legendary Starfy
    - Super Princess Peach

    Puzzle:
    - Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure (Puzzle/Platformer)
    - Professor Layton and the Curious Village
    - Professort Layton and the Diabolical Box
    - Scribblenauts
    - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
    - Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations
    - Phoenix Wright: Justice for All
    - Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney

There's a ton more, but that's just what I own/can think of without giving false info

I've got good news and bad news about 6th level, That Guy. The good news is that Forbiddance spell allows you to prevent enemies different alignment from entering a consecrated area, which is actually useful! The bad news is that the only other new sixth level spell makes lunch for everybody. Guess which one the party is going to expect you to cast.

Etrian Odyssey 1 & 2 and Dark Spire for RPGs. Dark Spire isn't for everyone, but it's $5 and worth a try.

I really liked Hotel Dusk, it was stylish as fuck. Starfox DS was pretty fun if you can ignore the fact that there will never be a Starfox game as good as 64. Pokemon Platinum is basically the best Pokemon game around until the G/S remakes come out, if you're into remakes. Megaman ZX Advent is a pretty solid continuation of the Zero series. Both of the Advance Wars DS titles are awesome.

it's actually mostly a fire world!
and when you're underwater it plays like you're on the moon (low gravity, no swimming involved)
