Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
I recently got a new album on vinyl, and decided to give it a spin. The problem is, on my record player, it plays too slowly. If I change the playback speed, it's too fast.
I've listened to the same record on a friend's stereo, and it sounds fine.
What might the problem be, and how would I go about fixing it?

Is the player direct drive or belt driven?
"At first he thought it might be a natural occurrence - maybe a rabbit. But upon closer inspection, it was clear a knife had been used. And rabbits don't carry knives."
There should be two settings on your player: 33 and 45. Find out which one sounds right on your buddy's turntable, and find other LPs that run at that same speed. Do they sound normal or not?
I'm thinking the "too slow" version might just be the fault of your EQ being dramatically messed up. The other option is that your player is on the way out, as the motor does not drive at the correct rate in at least one of the modes.
