Swapping the HDDs of two PS3s

I own an 80 gig ps3 and recently picked up a 60 gig for backwards compatibility. I'm wondering if I can just swap harddrives as one could with two 360s, or if there is additional Sony bs to go through.

You can't swap. When you insert a HD in a PS3 it automatically formats it.

You need to use the backup utility to back up the HD you want to swap to an external USB drive, and then restore the backup to the new PS3.

There MAY be things that won't transfer to the new PS3, but most stuff will. To save time don't bother backing up your DLC. You can redownload it from the Playstation Store after you set up the new PS3.
