Don't get me wrong, I think it's brilliant what they have done with the gun generation system. It's truly an innovation that I have never seen before and I think it's awesome. I was just playing devils advocate for the "masses" who would say, "WTF, millions of guns my ass, there is only a pistol, shotgun, rocket launcher.." and not catch on to the nuances and what the game is about.

Even in one of the previews I saw the dudes were like "my favorite gun is this one, they did a good job making it" making it seem like they didn't understand what he had was unique and may never be seen by anyone else ever.

You say this as if shooting them is wrong.

And that's just not right, brother.

Come, I think what you need is a warm glass of milk and some time in the reflectory to bask in the welcoming glow of the Maker's Embrace. Soon he will deliver unto us a Bajillion and Ten guns and all will be well. You'll see.

ok ok. one thing about diablo that i think makes it easy to mindlessly grind is that it's linear. how liner is borderlands? if you can choose to go here or there, won't that just muck up time with people going "eh i need this mission over here but this guy needs to go over there and meh let's just uh do the third guy's mission"...

For me the gameplay of a shooter is way more engaging and "sports-like" than a click-clicky RPG so I don't think I would mind running a mission again because it's fun to shoot "mans with gunz".

Well there is probably some sort of mission sharing, or with a large overworld you'd just run to each guys mission and enjoy killing unique mans and collecting loots?

Oh man, even if the general public rejects this game those of us who are true "loot whores" are going to love this. My will power failed again and I checked out a new video where he found a gun *spoilers lol* that had the following stats:

    GGN INCENDIARY SNIPER
    DAMAGE 60
    ACCURACY 95.7
    FIRE RATE 0.6
    Clip 6
    [Flame]X2

    Highly effective vs Flesh
Chance to light enemies on fire

    High Elemental Effect Chance
    1.0x Weapon Zoom
    $271

Imagine how fun it's going to be to have that experience 1000s of times and show off or share with friends. I'm being sincere! Very excited. Especially to see what the purples/oranges can do.

You don't take your own missions with you when you join someone's game. I'll give an example. I host a game and you join. You are now on the same missions I am. If I get a new side mission, we both have it, and we both get the rewards when we turn it in. If we do a story mission, we both get the rewards when it's over. Since you are not host, you only get credit for the story mission (for your own game) if you have that mission unlocked. So to make sure everyone gets credit, you will want the person who is furthest behind in the story to host.

As far as I know the game's story missions are very linear (no branching), but with random side quests. The game areas are a bit more free roaming, but you have to do certain missions to unlock new areas/new paths.

No town portal? Really? I didn't realize that was a complaint.

That's probably because you're taking issue with how I phrased it. Here's the relevant bit of the transcript.
NB: (laughs) I did have fun with this game at certain moments. The problem was there were a lot of moments where I went "Ahh! This is really frustrating." and it's too bad this wasn't as polished as it could have been. Just to answer your question, you spend most of this game- You get the quest. Typically it's some kind of fetch quest / kill quest, your standard World of Warcraft stuff. You leave your camp. You have a waypoint. You go to that waypoint. And you either shoot the guy or you find the item and you walk all the way back to the beginning because there is no town portal equivalent in this game, which is a little frustrating. And that's it. And you do that over and over and over again. And then you're at the end of the game.

That sounds incredibly simplified, and a lot of games have a similar style of play. I mean honestly you could say that defined the missions in GTA 4 as well.

That game was awful. If they had a basic checkpoint system it may have been more enjoyable, but as it was I couldn't even finish the game.

    Spoiler:

I don't think those fire rate stats are rounds/second or even rounds/minute. They just don't make sense. 13 shots per second with a 12 round clip? You'd fire a single burst of ammo and you'd have to reload. That gun would get vendored at the first possible opportunity. So either that stat is using some other kind of scale or that gun is utter crap. I hope it's the former because 16 bazillion worthless guns is going to get old in a hurry.

Also, scope on a shotgun? Dumb. Between the spread and the effective range of a shotgun a scope is worthless.

Sure some guns are going to be wonky, but I hope this isn't representative of most guns in the game.

In a later video he was using that gun. It is 13 shots per second. It's also a very accurate gun with a nice scope, he was using it to snipe enemies using short bursts. If the enemy got close he would unload. I imagine this gun would also work well with +reload speed skills, or in times where you want a lot of damage in a short amount of time (boss weakspots that are only open for 1 second). I think it would also be usefull when you have a second gun with a much larger clip. Use the first gun for 1 second, get a lot of damage out, then switch to the second gun to finish everything off... then reload both.

A shotgun with a scope doesn't seem as useful, but there are teleporting grenades (they go to where you aim, so a scope would help). There is always a possibility of super low spread shotguns too, you never know.

Or slugs in a shotgun, not everything is a spread.

A scope on a shotgun is not worthless. Not necessarily, anyway.

It could fire slugs or, in the case of this game, ferrets or something.

Besides more iron sights in a game is not a bad thing. Sometimes you want to scope up an enemy and put one between his eyes like a man.

    "See what happened to jerry?"

"Yeah he was taking a piss when a high speed ferret blew his head off, fucking adventurers."

you could apply that same logic to our current metric for machine guns. . . we measure them in hundreds (sometimes even thousands) of rounds per minute, but magazine is only 30 bullets. . .

in fact, an mp5a series has a rate of fire of 800 rounds per minute, if we divide that by 60 to get seconds we come out with 13 shots per second.

Also, the beretta 93r has a rate of fire of 1100 per minute or 18 rps, and it has a 20 round box. . .

it looks like most machine pistols are in the same boat.
