Replacing Laptop DC Jack

TL DRTL DR Registered User regular
Hi, and thanks in advance. I currently have a Dell Inspiron 9200 disassembled, and I'm trying to remove a damaged power jack. The pins in the system board, however, seem to be fixed with some kind of compound or adhesive. I scraped a tiny bit up with a paper clip, and it looked like wax or something.

I need to know how to best remove this stuff so as to install the replacement jack. I assume the new jack will be ok with just solder, and I won't need to hunt down this mystery compound? Here are some pics:

Wish I had a magnifying glass or something (3MB)

Thanks in advance for the advice.
