Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

[Mini-phalla] The Asylum; The spirits of the Asylum win!

"Did you ever hear about that old mental hospital, up by Greenwood Park?"

"The one that's been shut down, like, for ever?"

"Yeah. That one. It's been closed for a century, the way that I hear it. But do any of you know why they shut it down?"

"I'm certain you're going to tell us, you dick."

"Because one hundred years ago, almost exactly to this day, every single living thing in that hospital was killed. Every. Single. Thing. And nobody ever figured out how, or why; whether it was one of the patients, or several of them; one of the staff spending too much time around the insane, or something else entirely."

"Bullshit."

"Yeah, that's fucking stupid."

"No, I'm being serious. My grandfather was part of the clean-up team. He'd never look me in the eye when talking about it, but he told me... things. That it wasn't just the blood and the flesh and the smell of death that terrified him. That there was something else there."

"Like what?"

"I don't know. Something. Something dark, ancient. Furious. I never asked too many questions, he always got shaky when the conversation went on too long."

"So why bring it up now? Just being a dick like normal, huh, dick?"

"Because my grandfather just died, and in his will he left my a very large sum of money. But I can only get it on one condition."

"Which is?"

"I have to go to that mental hospital, and make sure whatever that something was... is gone."

"So all you have to do is go check out a spoooooky old hospital, and you get the big bucks? Fuck, I'd take that."

"Yeah? Would you? Fine, then. Open offer, to all of you. Come with me, and we can share the cash."

"Ha! Easy money, you dick."

"Think that if you want. You never heard my grandfather's stories."

What's this?

This is a phalla for 25 people, also known as a mini-phalla.

Phalla? What's that?

The forum's version of the party game, Mafia. See here for more details. General rules apply, including no anonymous contact between players, no direct quoting of role PMs, etc. If you set up an off-site proboard, please PM me the link to it.

You're a terrible host, Burnage. What's the inevitable fucked-up mechanic?

The red vote? So last season.

That's right; this game does not feature a red vote. Instead, it features two esoterically coloured votes; a grey and an olive vote. Both kill the winner, but players can only choose to vote in one colour a night. Only your last vote counts, so no retractions are necessary and you can switch between the two different colours as often as you would like.
Spoiler:

As a pre-emptive clarification, mafia votes will count as slightly less than a villager's vote, so ties will always favour the village. Since this is obviously an experimental mechanic, I apologise in advance if it is unbalanced.

As ever with my games, each of you will be a precious and unique snowflake. But are any of you snowflakes special, in the standard sense? Well... don't count on it.

Unlike normal games, talking to dead players is perfectly acceptable, and possibly even encouraged. Dead players should keep to the standard "one ghost post" in the main thread, but should feel free to converse with living players about the game in other mediums - be they PMs, proboards, IRC, or ouija board.

Because posting in the main thread is going to be critical for either team's victory, inactivity rules are going to be a bit stricter than normal. You must make three posts a day, including a post with a vote, in order to not be counted as inactive. There will be no inactivity death warnings.

Days will end at 0000 BST. Certain days (i.e., when I decide to go out and get drunk) will most likely have a later vote close, which I will give you advance warning of. Also, if it's necessary I could make the default vote close an hour or so later than 0000 BST.

Clarifications:

Ask them in Orange.
