Children of Men was probably the most recent hard-core sci-fi film and it did very well for a British film in America if I remember correctly. Before that was Eternal Sunshine, which did quite well (having rom-com elements and marketing those heavily certainly helped it.)
And if children on men is Sci Fi then so is every superhero movie.
Yes, but owning a hard drive full of superhero movies won't label you as a sex offender, as opposed to "children on men."
