Little white socket on video card?

LockedOnTargetLockedOnTarget Registered User regular
I just got a Geforce GTX 260, and I noticed when I was hooking it up that aside from the two six-socket plugs I had to attach from the PSU, there's this little, single, white socket. One of these was on my old card, too, but nothing was plugged into it. What's this for? Does this need to be connected to something?

3/4 pin flat socket? Possibly a power source for another fan.

Small, two-pin socket? Looks almost like the kind used for front-panel audio connections?

That's your SPDIF passthrough, needed if you want audio over HDMI.

Or it's an unused fan connector for a fan on the board itself. But if it's on the top edge of the board, it's likely the audio passthrough.
