Well Pipe, being told to pay attention to the players in white causes the mind to pay less attention to the players not wearing white. This causes the bear to stand out less, but it does not work on everybody.
Just depends on how good you are at maintaining multiple trains of thought. Most people aren't very good at that sort of thing, and have a habit of overlooking things that are blatantly obvious to other people who are watching things unfold.
Like that video where a british dude is walking around with a map and asks someone for directions, and while the stranger is looking at the map someone will pass between the two of them with a big sign or something. During the distraction, the guy switches with someone else, and oftentimes the switch went completely unnoticed. There are clips of that on YouTube, but I suck at searching.

This is a pretty fair assessment of the situation. They will rip mirror surrounds, window seals and the rubber bits of window wipers off cars for no good reason. My dad was telling me that for some reason he was leaving his jacket somewhere when he walked off to do something else, so he covered it completely with rocks so that you nearly couldn't see it to stop keas ripping it up or anything, and when he came back it was just gone. It wasn't even near a road or anything.

My brother and adopted cousin-brother guy used to play hockey and would leave what was described as "a bloody aftermath" on the ice after games with rival teams.
God I love going to hockey games. Sittin with some hot cocoa or coffee, all wrapped up in my Avalanche jacket. Sittin RIGHT in the DEATH ZONE.
