It's time to get back to talking about how good this was.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80_HKdvNhgA

For the haters, you can talk about the shows and movies that came before here too.

Edit: And here's a link to all the original series' episodes on Youtube thanks to MrMonroe.

I saw this in IMAX and Saturday and, as I said in the last thread, it was fucking fantastic. I will be seeing it again this weekend.

It was so good actually that it has inspired me to pick up a Star Trek series, which has yet to be determined (either TOS or TNG).

this is seriously a movie that was made for IMAX

everything's so bright and shiny and detailed that watching it on a 100' screen just enhances the experience instead of making it overwhelming

DS9 would be my pick for a more modern series but I am in love with all of TOS' characters.

edit: also the best part was the
    Kobayashi Maru
sequence. And "Get out of the chair!"

I'm already knee-deep in shows I need to be watching (BSG, Psych, House) and it's gonna be worse when the seasons that are ending right now hit DVD soon (The Office, 30 Rock, Big Bang Theory).

'Prime Directive' was one of the inspirations for the new movie's plot if that's a good enough recommendation besides my own.

As for the Vanguard series, it's pretty sweet so far with the fourth book released recentlly. Think DS9 with more Section 31-like cloak-n-dagger business going on in the background with a three-way struggle going on between Starfleet, the Klingons and the Tholians over bizzare stuff found in the region of space Vanguard's located at. Some of the good stuff includes...
...the chief UFP ambassador on the station and which happens to look a lot like Zorak from 'Space Ghost', a Vulcan officer who's suffering from an unusual but familiar mental affliction due to a Pon-Farr gone wrong, a reporter with a small tie to DS9 who's life is purposefully wrecked by Vanguard's top officers to hide what's going on, and a whole planet getting glassed over by a Starfleet ship with Federation colonists STILL on it.
