What worries me is that it's coming out for the xbox and ps3. With ffxi they used the ps2 as an excuse to not add new features, even ones that they ended up adding later. They even used it as an excuse to not allow 3rd party tools or UI modifications of any sort.
I think I'm the only person ever whose favourite MMO of the last generation was EQ2.
actually I know exactly one other person
he is fanatical about it even though he will never raid or do anything in an mmo that involves other people I think
Zoel on
A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
man I just want FFXI but...better. I loved playing it with my friends but when my friends wern't around I couldn't do shit. Well thats a lie, I could spend millions of gil on oranges in an attempt to juice them, but I would fail miserably at it. How do you fail to juice an orange? And why did I need to add crystals to my Orange Juice? Also I would like to be able to kill things on my own occasionally. Like oh hey, a fish, or like hello little bunny. Too bad I don't have a full and balanced party or I can't even think about looking at that fish wrong!

Soloing was aways somewhat viable, just really hard
Also, the same thing happened to me. I founded a guild, made a bunch of friends, took a brief hiatus, and they were all like level 50 and I said fuck it and quit

Yeah, the expansion came out, I got home from work that evening and they were all level 72 and done with the starter area. And when I asked for a little help they did so very grudgingly.
So I focused my efforts on catching up. By the end of the weekend, I was the same level with a fair chunk of it done. Then when I got back from work the next day they were another two levels ahead of me, and once again done with the areas I was playing through.
That's when I just decided 'fuck it' and stopped playing. Soloing is viable but not fun in the slightest, at least not as a Berserker.
How many MNKs did you guys see at 75? I think the game hated monks.
quite a lot actually
All I know is making fists suck against crabs made Valkurm painful as a MNK.
Kind of hard to convince a group to take you if you are a pure dps class that can't do dps.

If by "excuse" you mean they were contractually required to NOT add something ps2 players couldn't utilize.
This would be another case of research before you talk out of your ass.

So they broke the contract by adding more inventory slots that they had previously said they couldn't because of the ps2?
They used that contract as an excuse to not bother with upgrades that they could have put in for both the ps2 and pc.

I just played it with a dedicated group, and so we always got to new content at the same time. Meant I never had to really PUG.
Soon as Kunark came out, though, they apparently had way too much free time and out leveled me pretty damn quickly. That kind of killed it.

Oh boy was that a long ass install.
Also it didn't help that you had to go through 7 different screens just to play the game each time.
