They've gotten pretty good at it, it is just that it isn't as simple as making it bigger.

Yeah just finished watching that. So incredibly surreal. It's also discomforting to realize that in the event of an actual war, assuming they didn't just launch nukes in every direction, it seems North would run right over South before being stopped.

My friend explained how he picked out the shortest among the large group. He told the crowd that the drug would best take effect when consumed regularly in an environment with clean air. The people willingly, and without the slightest suspicion, hopped aboard two ships -- women in one, men in the other. Separately, they were sent away to different uninhabited islands in an attempt to end their “substandard” genes from repeating in a new generation. Left for dead, none of the people made it back home. They were forced to spend the rest of their lives separated from their families and far from civilization.
I watched this thing where a doctor went into n.korea to do eye surgery to treat a common and easily treatable eye disease that had left thousands of koreans blind. basically its really simple and takes a couple minutes and he did a shitload in a single day while showing north korean "doctors" how to also do it.

After they took out the cataracts, there was this really bizarre scene in which all the fixed people starting crying hysterically and thanking Kim Jong Il for curing their blindness and bowing and placing gifts at a picture of him.

Jesus, everybody thinks Kim Jong Il is the sole problem here and that getting him out of the picture would be a good thing.
Kim Jong Il getting assassinated or dying or whatever would be/is going to be a very bad thing. As crazy as we all love to think he is, he is actually a relatively rational leader for what is going on around him. The dude is actually pretty understanding and whatnot in one on one conversations with foreign diplomats and whoever is special enough to meet him. The whole system that is built around him however, is the problem. Once he dies, huge power vacuum, nobody will know what to do. And most importantly, Kim Jong Il won't be there to hold the military back anymore.
Ugh, watching journalistic productions filmed in The PRK while in a thread about two US journalists condemned for seeking to create the same kind of productions makes me sad.
