I could give you some hosting if you don't want to rely on forumer; I've already got a PHPBB3 install that hardly sees any use. Plus then you get actual folder and database access.
edit: then again, the URL might not suit these purposes
Toss and Mori: Thanks for the offers, but there's little point in my upgrading the hosting until there's a bit more interest in what's already there.
Sage: I can see that it might have come across that way, but no, I had intended this for use by people from across the existing boards. I'm just a bit wary of making multiple threads about it in multiple forums since I'm treading a little close to sitewhoring as it is.

Butler did the mods shoot this idea down?
I am not being trying to shoot you down or anything but wont it be hard to get other people to come to the site? I mean the success of any forums pretty much depends on a site continuing to get new members and without you making new threads every month or PM'ing every person that joins it will be hard to get an influx of people.
If it was a sub section of Critical Failures or something it would always be visible on the boards, which I believe would be a superior option.
There's a line 50 billion long to do a Phalla over in CF, not to mention the baggage and grudges that exist after so many games.
I wholeheartedly support your plan Butler.
Also, I was wondering since the forum will run ads (which is no problem) do you have any control over what ads are presented? So that way you don't end up with the hiijack and trojan horse ads?

Koshian my issues with it is not what it does at all.
I am unsure of it's success because it is hard to make a seperate set of boards visible.
If it was a sub-forum of PA somewhere it would be far more visible and get far more foot traffic.

While I agree on the line being long, most grudges are usually forgotten within a game or two.
Unless you did something monumentally retarded.

I would hope so. I've only participated in a couple of the ones in CF, but the one that sticks out in my mind was the LotR phalla where people were grudge voting all over the place on the first and second day. I think a couple of people quit because they were so sick of it.
I think this is a pretty great idea! There seems to be far more demand for SE++ Phallas than there is supply; if it got popular enough, it would probably turn into another CF situation with the waitlist and all (because you really don't want, say, thirty Phallas going at one time), but I'm never one to disbar a good idea based on what it could wind up being.
Now are you thinking of having this be mostly for SE++, or for the collective forums? Because if it's for everyone, you would probably have to come up with some pretty explicit rules on the back-up forums - all kinds of people would be clamoring for all kinds of different stuff (although you could always resort to the "if you don't like it, fuck off" approach).
Naw, this is a good idea. If you have any thoughts, shoot'em my way; I love to kick around ideas on stuff like this.

uh, honestly, I haven't seen a Phalla yet where first-round voting wasn't decided by grudge voting
I don't know if a new forum would exactly solve that, but hopefully there would be enough fresh faces that that would become less of a thing.

That's my thinking. I would hope with new people there would be less history for people to be assholes about and at least temporarily halt grudge voting.
I don't think it's not that we're not allowed to have them, it's more like Forum Battles and EPYC, we're not supposed to have them with great frequency.

Grudge voting doesn't bother me. The only real dick move is continually voting/killing someone on day 1.

Maybe when Butler establishes his mods, they can advertise in their sig?
Besides, having as much foot traffic as one of the subforums might even be overkill on the new board in its infant stages.
