Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

This is the thread for making ourselves better. None of that pansy "I wish I could do ___________ but don't want to do anything about it whaaaaaaa", this thread is for setting a goal, forming a plan and sticking to it to see your goal accomplished. It's about accountability, or at least as much accountability people on the internet can offer.
In short, this is kind of like the workout thread except for things that aren't getting PUMPED UP. For example, I find that I don't do nearly enough drawing considering I want to be an artist, so I intend to dedicate no less than an hour a day to actually doing some drawing.
So ladies, tell me what you want to accomplish, what new skill you want to master, or what thing you like to pretend you can do but really suck at and need to fix.
For here, we shall improve ourselves.
Spoiler:
And so I release this thread into the wild, for the approval of you, the people.
I feel that the quality of my writing has been slipping lately, and I've also been mulling over these various ideas for stories for months, so I started to write for a friend. Now she's demanding updates, so I have an incentive to keep going.
There're no grand ambitions involved, just a little personal project, really.
I have to try to stop being so nervous and so easily angered
I have to try to MAKE SOME MUSCLE AND BECOME A BIG MAN
I have to try to stop talking about me all the time

you sure do get angry whenever I whoop your butt in WC3
I am about to cook some salmon and some pasta. I am very bad at cooking; things usually go wrong.
I am nervous.
But here goes nothin'
Cookin' ain't so hard. You can do it!
I tend to mess up the timing when trying to cook multiple things, and I usually end up with at least one thing having gone badly or at least not the way I intended it to.
At the very least, I got motivated to clean the kitchen up.

For the longest time I've been worried that I don't have the attention span or patience to handle a real work schedule, either for a job or for college, and would never be able to really keep getting myself up in the morning to do it.
However, for the last three weeks, I've been on and off campus during the summer semester, attending about 8 hours of classes, four days a week, which has involved getting up at about 6:30 in the morning in order to catch the right buses, and I don't usually get home until almost 6 pm.
I'd be feeling pretty awesome about that, if I wasn't so fucking tired.
I need a job. Need a way to pay for PAX, games, and books.
The way I'm planning it I'll definitely be able to afford PAX but I just don't want to completely drain any cash reserves I have.
The books part wouldn't be so bad if the libraries near me weren't so sadly small, and as for games I'm really starting to miss playing EVE.

just poach the salmon
if it's roughly 145-165, it is almost impossible to leave it in too long
One time, I had a friend over to play a bit of Red Alert on my LAN. During the game he said he needed to go to the bathroom, so we paused it. After about 10 minutes of wondering where the hell he went, I get up and go to check on him.
Once I was taking a poop at a restaurant and a kid crept underneath the door into my stall. I let out a big fart and then he threw up all over the floor in front of me and I just stared at him.
I want to:
- Get in shape, because I am so terribly out of shape (and slightly flabby, ew)
- Stop being so lazy and start preparing myself to get a job next year because I am fucking graduating and I want a decent job

preferably closer to 145
Oh the salmon's not the problem. I know how long to cook that. It's that I'm making steamed asparagus and pasta with it. The steamer is pretty automatic, but I have little idea of how long it actually takes, so I'm never really sure when to start. And I tend to mis-estimate how long it actually takes to cook pasta. So the salmon will be like hey ding I'm done! And I'll be like shiiiiiit, the pasta just went in the pot, and the asparagus has actually been done for like 10 minutes.

It was great except we skimped on the toppings.
The crust we made from scratch turned out great even though Stale said it wouldn't the first time.
I was really happy with how it went.

I have about 15-20 lbs I need to shave that I have gained since moving in with my new wife before I end up with my father's gut.
I have to eat more fiber and drink more water so I don't have to spend 30 minutes browsing SE while I poop.
I have to organize my workflow at the office and reduce the stress I feel when I am there.
I give myself until April to do these things, when I turn 30 and my life ends.
Do the machinist diet, you can lose that in a little over a month!
I'm learning spanish right now through rosetta stone though I really need to force myself to do it on days when I don't feel like doing anything...
