Yeah, straight there. It's sheer luck that PAX falls on the same weekend that my one-week study break begins, so I can actually spend some time in Seattle afterwards and justify the expense.

Funny you speak of tapas, I had some pretty good stuff a few weeks back at the Sir John Young pub on George St. We went there for a burger and chips, but they've since been invaded by a whole clan of Spanish people, and now the place does Tapas on a Friday night. Tapas and beer.

There are like five forumers in Edmonton and we never meet up because we're all terrible people. Or at least I am, I can't speak for the rest.

Honestly if someone just took the initiative and actually organized something I'm sure you'll be able to have a pretty nice meet-up. The Edmonton folks are all nice folks, from what I've seen. No reason for it to go badly!
Hell part of the reason the PerthPAX thread became the AusPAX thread is because people just saw how easy it was for rad folks to get together, and so I just converted the thread over so that all the Australia-based forumers only had to go to one place.
We keep finding out about lurkers or long-gone posters who are living in these cities and they pop up when they see the thread and come hang out, that's why a thread like that is so cool.
Look I ain't gonna shit on the Seattle thread, I got no problem with them, but the Seattlites didn't exactly handle the poopin' in the threads well, either.
That's why you do threads like this.

man look this is SE++ if a thread gets derailed it gets derailed, I don't know why Australia got left well enough alone while Seattle got blasted to the moon over and over again with pages and pages of "lol Seattle thread," but raising it every time something nice is said about a meetup thread isn't exactly the way to warm people's hearts to Seattle threads either
could be that the Aussie meetup threads are just lower profile, which I'm sure is fine by everyone who regularly posts in them anyway

There have been meet-up threads for places all around the world. Apparently some of the mods complimented the Australian ones as being better than average, and that says exactly nothing either way about their opinion of Seattle meet-up threads. The insult is all in your head.
