If you can hear it then it might not be a bad thing to just knock on the door. Just say you heard someone crying and wanted to check to make sure everything was alright.
What type of game?
Knock on the door and ask if she's OK. If she asks why, tell her the Internet told you you had to.
That's fairly safe to assume she wants to be left alone.

I'd say so, but if it gets louder or anything I'd probably try again or talk to the ra.
In a video game that is a clear sign no one is home and you are welcome to come inside and take whatever's not nailed down.
You did the right thing though.
