I love how my girlfriend is more internet-known than I am on this forum now because she does things like make good suggestions where I just agree with people all the time.

    :P

I have Friday off and I have a glasses set to complete so I'd love to hit up the Sam brewery again!

NC weather can never make up its mind

We had a high of like 41 at 11 AM today, but it was in the 70s yesterday, and we generally have a few days in January/December that are nice and warm

Plus in the summer we get crappy cold fronts and it'll be in the 60s and rainy and gross

But when the weather is nice, it's nice

Oh Kantankeris and I are in. I agree with Javen, this definitely calls for drinks. And possibly Kings so we can drink and bowl? Oooo and we should get tapas because we have some awesome tapas places here. Or Gaslight because it's swanky and yummy.

Also Rob, I can hit Harrisburg in 8 hours. It's probably around 6 at most to Philly, it takes me a bout 5 to get to Vineland, NJ. I can make it to Cape May in 6 easy.

The Onyx is super hot, I think Dave stayed there when he came over. The weather is supposed to suck ass this weekend but we're kind of used to that. Just pack an umbrella. The brewery tour is badass and you get a free glass. It's also free, they just ask for like a $5 donation to whatever charity they're supporting at the moment.

Added: SHOPPING <3 I blame Usagi for my new found love of shopping. It's way more fun when you have a girlfriend who has good taste to go with. Who also likes drinking while shopping.

    Oh yes, so totally true.

Hmmm, are boston cream pies better in boston than elsewhere? Maybe I have one thing, at least, to do tomorrow night. Any suggestions for a good place to get boston cream pie?

Also I am really having a hard time finding something for me and a coworker to do in Boston in a single night. I don't really know her tastes, but she doesn't drink at all, isn't very out going, doesn't like seafood, and doesn't really want to spend money. I need suggestions please.

Bova's makes some delicious baked goods. It's on the corner of Prince and Salem in the North End, one of the few places over there I'd recommend. We took Dave there for what may have been his first calzone.

Also you can get $30 seats at the BSO and that is always an excellent evening.

Hey thanks for the suggestions. I will definitely try to hit that Bova place. The $30 seats sound tempting, but I am not sure if I will enjoy the composers/pieces that are going to be performed. If it had been an organ piece, I woulda been all over it. I'll suggest it though, maybe my coworker is a huge fan of classical.

I was also thinking of climbing the bunker hill monument, some websites claimed it had a "great" view of the city skyline, is it worth it?

  • VisionOfClarityVisionOfClarity Registered User
    edited October 2009
If you want to see the city skyline you can drive down Memorial at night for a great view. Seriously, it's beautiful. You can also do the Sky Walk at the Pru. It's like $12/15 and on a clear day you can see all around the city and then some. I haven't been to the top of the monument but where it's located would definitely have some nice city views. It's also free. While you're out that way you can check out the Constitution at the Charlestown Navy Yard.

Hmmm. Memorial I guess thats a street or something, I'll have to look it up. I will probably go the the constitution museum on Friday, I think it's closed by the time I will be done with the work I have to do on thursday. Thanks again mysterious VoC you have been a great help and I totally just realized that you were the "VoC" Usagi referred to earlier in the thread. Man I am stupid. =P

It's Memorial Drive and it runs on the Cambridge side of the river parallel to it. It's one of my favourite roads to drive on, especially at night because it's empty and it's a nice ride.

Most of Gaslight's entrees are in the $15-$19 so it's not too bad. Besides, I've been craving steak tartare since we were there last week. It's so good. Even if we don't go this weekend we should still go sometime Javen.
