I've been looking at a lot of Zdzislaw Beksinski and Francis Bacon paintings again lately, and I'm completely convinced that there should be a movie filled with all the creepy weird shit they did.

They are making a sequel to The Descent.

The premise is that the local sheriff doesn't buy her story after she escapes (this based off the US version obviously) and organizes a rescue/search party to go back. They take her with them. She goes back fucking well in there with them.

    Mind numbingly stupid premise.

The Alien trilogy was pretty damn great.

I really like how they used actual art instead of throwing money at people to do it as CGI.

    No it certainly can...

Just not when it's an obvious sell out.

Like the new christmas carol movie.

Because they just as easily could do it as hand drawn or live action.

It's 3D for the sake of... Well nothing.

They used a whole different animation process to get a slightly different sort of animation.

They did use live action actors actually. Like with Beowulf and The Polar Express

Maybe it was an artistic decision? 3D doesn't automatically mean it's a sell out movie. Did you see Coraline? The movie looks great without being in 3D, but they added 3D subtly and it looked better for it.

I don't like the style of the new Christmas Carol movie, but that doesn't mean it has no merit as art.

So, to revise your original post: you liked that they used good art instead of bad art.

    You're a genius.

Yeah, he came along too late for the golden age of Universal monsters, but he's probably my favorite.

    Wiki wrote:
In October 2005, Breck Eisner signed on as director. "As a kid, I remember loving Jack Arnold's original version of this film," he explained. "What I really want to do is update an iconic image from the '50s and bring in more of the sci-fi sensibility of Alien or John Carpenter's The Thing."[7] Ross said in March 2007 the Gill-man's origin would be reinvented, with him being the result of a pharmaceutical corporation polluting the Amazon. "It’s about the rainforest being exploited for profit," he said.[8]

The film was delayed by the 2007-08 Writers Guild of America strike, and Eisner put a remake of The Crazies on his priority. Once he finishes filming that, he will begin filming Creature from the Black Lagoon in Manaus, Brazil and on the Amazon River in Peru. Eisner was inspired to shoot on location by Fitzcarraldo, and the boat set has been built. Eisner continued to rewrite the script, which will be a summer blockbuster full of "action and excitement, but [still] scary". Eisner spent six months designing the new incarnation of the Gill-man with Mark McCreery (Jurassic Park, and Davy Jones' designer). The director said the design was "very faithful to the original, but updated", and that the Gill-man will still be sympathetic.
Breck Eisner seems like the kind of guy that grew up on the best films but can't necessarily make one. I also think the Crazies remake looks kinda dumb.

You know what would be interesting?

A movie where the main characters are an extra terrestrial race of humanoid, not completely non violent aliens in like an earlier technological era than we are in right now.

And then there is an invasion.

But long story short the invaders are humans.

See Humans are the most terrifying monsters of all.
