In what way does this comic have to do with a John Travolta movie

The phenomenon is the nickname given for a particular way in which Gabe tends to draw hands. The idea is that it looks like the hand presenting a heart from the Temple of Doom.

You can see it clearly in the second panel. The style is there in the third, but it's not exactly right.

For it to be a 'correct' use of the Phenomenon, the hand must be around the torso, above the stomach and below the head. Exactly how it is in panel 3 with Gabe. Panel 3 with Tycho does show the phenomenon style of hand drawing, though.

I'm wondering how the hell you're seeing the phenomenon in the second panel

    Sorry, I got confused.

It's all in the third panel. Gabe is doing the phenomenon, and Tycho is just doing the hand gesture.

    Those edits are fantastic.

This is still my favorite Tycho face though, in panel two:

Where did SabreMau even come from?

We had forever of nothing but horrible, horrible Skull Man edits, and now for every comic there are about a billion absolutely incredible edits by SabreMau.

so what you're saying is that we shouldn't call it a come back

Well, there was a dormant period of sorts. I was doing more edits back in late 2007 and then didn't get back into it as a regular thing during most of '08-'09. I think at some point during this the main SE++ webcrumblic threads went into lockdown due to spammage. In the meantime, I stayed mostly in that MMO subforum over there.
