Tea Party is offical party in Florida - will run candidates against Republicans

Poor Republicans. They go so far to the right that Independants don't want to have anything to do with them but they don't go far enough to the right for the crazies that currently make up their base...
I'm not going to say I called it. Like 15 fucking months ago.

I'm just going to say this is largely unsurprising given the trends, and leave it at that.

Florida is just their own special place of hell. Like seriously, it makes the REST of the Southeast look progressive at times. Yes, even Mississippi!

See, now this is good stuff. Falls under the heading of never interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake.

Though it isn't all sunshine and rainbows. In a lot of the blood red republican or trending districts the teabaggers are more likely than not to knock off their more moderate republican opponents early and have enough time to rebuild the support they need to take the seat, leading to a decidedly crazier congress (see Rubio/Crist in Florida for the most prominent and unfortunate case of this).

What? Hardly. We have some stupid people in the north, but as long as we have Tampa, Orlando and South Florida we'll be more progressive than the rest of the southeast.

    Rubio ain't winning in Florida.

    Well

So long as the Democrats put up a competent candidate.

Even if they had a good candidate the odds are pretty close to 50/50 with Rubio, and as far as I know they don't have any solid Dem leads stepping up so far. Though I'm sure I could be wrong.

Crist is a shoe-in for the junior Senate seat in Florida. All the Teabaggers are going to get for primarying him is yet another Democratic senator.

That's because right now it's Rubio vs. Generic Unknown Democrat

Sorry, but Rubio is not winning Florida. Florida is a purple state, no way is a teabagger winning it.

Moderate Republicans are an urban legend at this point.

Hold on there now, Tampa is a bit premature. It's purple from what I recall, and slightly leaning Republican. I mean, this is one of the few places in the country where you can drive on the interstate and see a huge Confederate flag flapping in the wind.

Moderate may be too strong a word for it with far too many of them, but even at worst there's stock republican and extra strength batshit crazy republican. The first is sleazy and obstructionist, but ultimately rational if soulless. The second is worse because they sincerely and unquestioningly believe shit the stock model couldn't even bring themselves to fake.

Tampa is fairly democratic. The surrounding areas? Not so much.

Anyone with any combination of national ambition, rational self-interest and a willingness to actually work with other people has long since fled the Republican party, particularly in places crazy enough to support the Tea Party.
