Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!

I don't mean the level itself, but just another playable flashback scene.
Just finished the campaign on Veteran. Fucking hell that was tough. Feels good man.

Yeah, the team objective gametypes are the best for leveling up. I can't wait to try out demolition.
I can see where you're coming from Blank, but I wouldn't pull the plug just yet as it's still early days.
A lot of people (myself included) have yet to get used to the idea that you can actually shoot down most of the killstreak heavy hitters, without even using a launcher. Give us some time, and I'm confident the PA group will get used to this and start shooting those things down as quickly as they enter.
On top of that, I'm eagerly anticipating getting the Cold Blooded perk, which makes you invisible to the killstreak rewards. Its like the UAV jammer of old, but 10X more useful.
And seeing how you dont need Stopping power as much this time around, I might slap it into most of my sets.
That twinned with bling for a silencer and sensor will be great fun. Super Ninja!

The ending (spoilars):
Some questions (if they're answerable/anyone can be bothered):
1. Who's Ghost? Is it Gaz, or is it never revealed?
2. Why the hell does Shephard shoot Roach and Ghost and go all crazy?
3. Why does Price launch the nuke? It doesn't really accomplish much at all.
Well, IW at this point is the only who can enforce anything, so the question you should be asking; do you trust IW to do an impossible job they said they'd do?

2. it was his agent that got killed in the airport (that started the war). he was also the head american guy in MW1 whose troops died
3. i really have no clue. some shit about making a bigger fire figuratively or something.
valve is suposed to do this job
I knew I wasn't dumb. Thanks!

I think it's both. VAC is the anti-cheat, but I'm guessing Infinity Ward do the banning from IWnet.
edit:
But I think you can lodge a complaint against player(s), no?
Ultimately one of two things is going to happen with multiplayer with MW2, either IW realise their mistake and add dedicated servers etc or the multiplayer dies very quickly.
I don't think i've seen this mentioned, so I may as well be the one to mention it. The thing about gaming on the consoles is that it's very hard (not impossible, but very hard) to cheat because the PS3 and 360 are very locked down platforms. (as in no other software running whilst the game is etc) Therefore something like this p2p multiplayer system you can get away with.
But on a pc platform it's a whole different ball game, there are people out there who specialise in creating hacks for games. And because there is no real banning mechanism there will be lots and lots of them.
The idea that somehow IW alone could keep on top of all the hacks and cheaters that will appear in what is likely going to be the most bought game this year is laughable.

I've got a spare copy of Portal, if anyone wants it message me.
2. Something about rewriting history. And he's really angry about the 30,000 soldiers he lost (we can assume these were men inside the blast zone of MW1's nuke detonation. He spews rhetoric, and we never get concrete motivation from him.
3. Standard Nuke detonation is fairly high above the target zone, (Little Boy, for reference, was detonated 1,900 feet above Japan.) Comparatively, Price detonated the nuke in a pretty high orbit (10,000's of miles) where standard blast damage (save destroying the International Space Station) has little effect. The idea is the EMP from the blast would short circuit all of the Russian electronics, allowing the Americans to make a guerrilla assault and retake the Whitehouse.
Price uses the analogy of setting off a bomb next to a flaming oil leak to take away all the oxygen, and suffocate the fire.
I don't think you can, not through VAC.
And I think the split exe's is only something CoD has done since 2. I don't recall any other games doing it.

Could have sworn other games did it; I know Soldier of Fortune 2 did it... but I'm drawing a blank on others.
I know, in the end, not a huge deal: just sucks that I picked the single player exe/shortcut; don't ask me if I want to play spec-ops or multi after that!

Jedi Outcast did. And some other Quake 3 engine games, although IIRC, CoD2 wasn't QE3.
It's something I'm willing to wait and see on.
Failing that, it's not like it's a big loss for them.
It was! That engine was pretty damn amazing.
oh and Ghost isn't Gaz, same actor but the character has a different name, bit weird but there you have it.
Shepard really got me, shooting Roach and Ghost and trying to kill 141...why? and why do all his men go along with it? what is he trying to achieve and why is killing his best men needed? Starting WW3? there was a conversation in the Colorado bunker with him and the SecDef saying something about "not on our watch" that was never fleshed out.
The plot needed waaaay more exposition imho, still cool though, submarine insertion to an oil rig? breach and clear? fuck yes!
Unlocking perks: Makes sense at first thought but not really ideal. I can live with it.
Unlocking multiplayer gametypes: Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. Not a fan of this one bit.
Does anyone know if you can bring lower level players into a gametype they haven't yet unlocked if they're in your party? It'd be a shame if a couple of my more casual-playing friends missed out on the likes of S&D.

Well I guess that probably explains it then. They've pretty much been building on this engine ever since. I mean, there's hardly any of the original code left but I guess there must be something in there preventing them from merging the multiplayer component with the singleplayer.
I still don't understand why they can't do that after all this time though.
You can, as long as the host of the group has those types unlocked.

I can barely make out the stuff on my TV while wearing those goggles and then bang my little man is dead.
Kinda sucks.
Basically to me it is still CoD4. Just with new bells and whistles. Not to say that isn't a good thing but I don't know..
Maybe I just need to unlock some of the equipment before I start passing judgement. I still had a blast in the time I played. Rounded a corner, throwing knife in someones back, wipe out 2 others, call a care package a moment later then call in the missile from it.
A++ Would lol again.
I wonder what the nest of dudes thought when they saw a knife fly in through the window and clatter to the floor.

Got a question about the riot shield. What does the grenade button R2 do exactly? The edges of the screen go black, but that's about all I can see happen. It seems like it's putting on a helmet, but that's only a guess on my part. Also, is it possible to shoot a sidearm while holding a riot shield? Or are you limited to being a shield and bashing people?
Its all in the reflexes.
Thought 2: WHY THE FUCK CAN'T I PLAY HC MODE UNTIL LEVEL 18 THAT IS SOME NEWJACK BULLSHIT RIGHT THERE I HATE THIS NORMAL MODE CRAP
I forgot I had Frags on one of my M4 builds, not Semtex.
I can only assume everyone laughed as I kept bouncing them off people's faces.
It is kind of nice that it gives you copycat so soon. It kind of helps with not having the perks and weapons. I copied a very nice setup earlier today.
