You can visit the museum in the credits via the mission select, and there's a bunch of weapons in the display case in the middle. Guess what's in the display case?

    A useable M1911!

    haha awesome!

I do kind of wish there was a mile-high club mission, but I guess that's what the whole co-op thing is now?

You sir, can go jump off a cliff while doused in the fires of the deepest bowels of hell. Mile-High Veteran can accompany you.

I don't mean the level itself, but just another playable flashback scene.

Yeah, the team objective gametypes are the best for leveling up. I can't wait to try out demolition.

Shit is fucked up when over half your kills is coming from kill streak bonuses and not like, shooting people.

I can see where you're coming from Blank, but I wouldn't pull the plug just yet as it's still early days.

A lot of people (myself included) have yet to get used to the idea that you can actually shoot down most of the killstreak heavy hitters, without even using a launcher. Give us some time, and I'm confident the PA group will get used to this and start shooting those things down as quickly as they enter.

On top of that, I'm eagerly anticipating getting the Cold Blooded perk, which makes you invisible to the killstreak rewards. Its like the UAV jammer of old, but 10X more useful.

    Holy balls.

    The ending (spoilars):
It was good, though it didn't have the same shock that CoD4's ending did, and the plot was so full of holes it was incomprehensible.

Some questions (if they're answerable/anyone can be bothered):
    1. Who's Ghost? Is it Gaz, or is it never revealed?
    2. Why the hell does Shephard shoot Roach and Ghost and go all crazy?
    3. Why does Price launch the nuke? It doesn't really accomplish much at all.

Well, IW at this point is the only who can enforce anything, so the question you should be asking; do you trust IW to do an impossible job they said they'd do?

Edit: Also, end-game spoiler question involving SCIENCE!
Um...would a nuclear explosion in space really create a shock wave that could wreck the space station? Ya know, since there's a void in space and there's nothing for physical waves to travel through? Or am I just Sci-dumb?

I was intrigued by this, so I googled it. The answer:
You cannot have a shock wave in empty space, but it is possible for
the effects of an explosion to be felt away from the source. Let us
just look at what actually occurs and see what effects are possible.

For purposes here, an explosion is a rapidly expanding cloud of gas,
mixed with debris from whatever structure used to contain the gas.
In an atmosphere, if the gas and debris are moving faster than the
speed of sound, they will produce a shock wave, and this will transfer
energy from the gas and debris to the surrounding air, slowing the gas
and debris down and limiting the distance they will travel. In space,
with no air to absorb the energy of the explosion, the gas and debris
will just continue to travel at constant speed until they hit something.

When the gas and debris collide with an atmosphere, they could produce
a shock wave, but only if they arrive in sufficient concentration to
force the air molecules they hit to move together. If the explosion
occurred very far away, the gas molecules would be very spread out by
the time they hit the atmosphere, and they would behave more as a bunch
of separate, rapidly moving particles than as a gas. The air molecules
they hit would not be forced to move as a unit in the direction the gas
was moving; air molecules would be allowed to move aside as well, and no
    shock wave would result.

Any astronauts in the vicinity would get hit by some fraction of the
gas/debris, and would absorb essentially all of that fraction's energy.
If they were close, they would absorb a significant fraction of the
total energy of the explosion. If they were far away, they would
absorb only a small fraction. (If you divide the area of the
astronaut's silhouette by the area of a sphere whose radius is the
distance from the explosion to the astronaut, you will have the
fraction of the explosion's energy absorbed by the astronaut.)

    I knew I wasn't dumb. Thanks!

I think it's both. VAC is the anti-cheat, but I'm guessing Infinity Ward do the banning from IWnet.

Ultimately one of two things is going to happen with multiplayer with MW2, either IW realise their mistake and add dedicated servers etc or the multiplayer dies very quickly.

I don't think i've seen this mentioned, so I may as well be the one to mention it. The thing about gaming on the consoles is that it's very hard (not impossible, but very hard) to cheat because the PS3 and 360 are very locked down platforms. (as in no other software running whilst the game is etc) Therefore something like this p2p multiplayer system you can get away with.

But on a pc platform it's a whole different ball game, there are people out there who specialise in creating hacks for games. And because there is no real banning mechanism there will be lots and lots of them.

The idea that somehow IW alone could keep on top of all the hacks and cheaters that will appear in what is likely going to be the most bought game this year is laughable.

    1. There are some comics to be release that will reveal the origin story of Ghost. He's the same voice actor as Gaz, so of course we already know what the fuck is going on, but still.

    2. Something about rewriting history. And he's really angry about the 30,000 soldiers he lost (we can assume these were men inside the blast zone of MW1's nuke detonation. He spews rhetoric, and we never get concrete motivation from him.

    3. Standard Nuke detonation is fairly high above the target zone, (Little Boy, for reference, was detonated 1,900 feet above Japan.) Comparatively, Price detonated the nuke in a pretty high orbit (10,000's of miles) where standard blast damage (save destroying the International Space Station) has little effect. The idea is the EMP from the blast would short circuit all of the Russian electronics, allowing the Americans to make a guerrilla assault and retake the Whitehouse.

Price uses the analogy of setting off a bomb next to a flaming oil leak to take away all the oxygen, and suffocate the fire.

Yes, it took out the US ones too, but there weren't many left anyway and they can easily bring in more from nearby states. The Russians have to bring in shit all the way from RUSSIA. So yeah.

oh and Ghost isn't Gaz, same actor but the character has a different name, bit weird but there you have it.

Shepard really got me, shooting Roach and Ghost and trying to kill 141...why? and why do all his men go along with it? what is he trying to achieve and why is killing his best men needed? Starting WW3? there was a conversation in the Colorado bunker with him and the SecDef saying something about "not on our watch" that was never fleshed out.

The plot needed waaaay more exposition imho, still cool though, submarine insertion to an oil rig? breach and clear? fuck yes!

Well I guess that probably explains it then. They've pretty much been building on this engine ever since. I mean, there's hardly any of the original code left but I guess there must be something in there preventing them from merging the multiplayer component with the singleplayer.

I still don't understand why they can't do that after all this time though.

Basically to me it is still CoD4. Just with new bells and whistles. Not to say that isn't a good thing but I don't know..

Maybe I just need to unlock some of the equipment before I start passing judgement. I still had a blast in the time I played. Rounded a corner, throwing knife in someones back, wipe out 2 others, call a care package a moment later then call in the missile from it.

Finished the story last night. I hear a lot of complaints about plot holes, but I dunno, I enjoyed it the whole way through. Then again, I also enjoyed Die Hard 4 and lots of people complained about holes in that movie too.

Got a question about the riot shield. What does the grenade button R2 do exactly? The edges of the screen go black, but that's about all I can see happen. It seems like it's putting on a helmet, but that's only a guess on my part. Also, is it possible to shoot a sidearm while holding a riot shield? Or are you limited to being a shield and bashing people?

Unlocking weapons: Fair enough I suppose. At least I have a couple of each type to start with.

Unlocking perks: Makes sense at first thought but not really ideal. I can live with it.

Unlocking multiplayer gametypes: Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. Not a fan of this one bit.

Does anyone know if you can bring lower level players into a gametype they haven't yet unlocked if they're in your party? It'd be a shame if a couple of my more casual-playing friends missed out on the likes of S&D.

You can, as long as the host of the group has those types unlocked.

It is kind of nice that it gives you copycat so soon. It kind of helps with not having the perks and weapons. I copied a very nice setup earlier today.
