Best concert I've ever been to was At The Gates. The band that a bunch of them formed was The Haunted, who are also great.

Did you go to the recent reunion or did you see them back in the day?

I was right on the edge of the pit. The sound quality of the video is not that great. That dude must have had his back against the wall of the venue, because it's pretty tiny.

Fun fact: there's a guy in SE whose cousin is the amon amarth drummer's wife, if I remember correctly.

TLB have you listened to Rebellion? They're a pretty great powe rmetal band, similar to IE in being heavier than most power stuff.

The best thing about Zune its ability to find similar artists for you.

Pick an album, artist or song and hit "mixview." Pick an artist in the marketplace and click on the "related" tab on the upper right. Use Smart DJ and make a playlist from some of your favorite songs.

Over the past 14 months I've had a Zune and the Zune Pass my music collection has gone from 2,000 songs to over 10,000.

To be fair, I can (and do) do that already with last.fm

True. It still is neat to have that integrated into Zune, especially with the Zune pass, which the OP uses.

Between Zune and last.fm and Pandora, I'll never run out of new music. Ever. I don't think the OP would either!

If you like Opeth you should get some stuff by dan swano, he produced their first few albums and mikael from opeth did guest vocals and some guitars on this song (the whole thing is 43 minutes long)

he's done like a billion different things from this (hahahaha)

    to this

he's pretty much my favourite musician ever

I am actually not a Meshuggah fan

Yeah, a lot of people aren't. That's why I include the disclaimer, heh.

Check out Panopticon by Isis and just about any album by Opeth if you are into slower stuff that's still intense and destructive. Opeth had one album that I didn't like at all, but now I can't remember which one it was.

Isis is okay but I find their vocalist to be obnoxious. Opeth I find to be far more interesting, though the last one was weak.

Blackwater Park is probably their best. After you've heard that one, which is pretty typical of their work, check out the album Damnation. You've never heard a classical guitar sound so heavy.

Was their recent one where they were detuning guitars mid-song and stuff?

The newest Isis release is Wavering Radiant, which pales in comparison to Panopticon and In the Absence of Truth.

The last one was very mediocre, and yeah in one song they slowly detune their guitars.

Hey, so I bought "The Way of All Flesh" on this thread's recommendation. It's pretty spectacular. Thanks, thread!
