You're going to have to wait a couple of months for a thesis paper by Drunk Pooro.
It'd be well worth it.
I think DP got banned outright, actually. Alas.
But Secret Girlfriend is just Girls Gone Wild with less nudity and 2% more narrative.
I dunno, to use the camera as a written character is something unique.
e: it's like POV porn on national television.
Man that is exactly what I just said.
There's less interaction between the audience and the camera in GGW and whatnot. You're distinctly aware that there's a "camera man" in GGW. In Secret Girlfriend you become a different person via the camera. Very different; much more voyeur.
e: I take it back, it's not voyeur, it's something new and weird and it makes me uncomfortable.

i think it's weird because people are forced into looking directly though the eyes of another person
they're forced into another role rather than watching a 3rd party
rarely used outside of porn
(edit) also the idea that there is no camera is unsettling. Every other time this POV is used there's heavy emphasis that there's a camera
GGW, there's a camera they're playing to
POV porn, there's a camera that they're playing to
Cloverfield, they talk to a guy holding a camera
you're never the guy, you're the viewer watching the tape from the cameraman

Check out a british sitcom called "Peep Show". It pulls off the "seeing through the characters eyes" VERY well. there is no implied camera, but you hear the interior monolog of whoever's eyes you are seeing through.
I just started/finished S1 of this show today.
I've been instructed that it gets much better. I still think S1 is watchable, but I'm looking forward to it getting really good.

Season 2 is when Frank shows up. And Dee becomes less of a normal person and more in line with the rest of the gang.
Is it just me or is Charlie more and more insane as the series goes? I feel like this season he is more delusional than lucid. I think it's the repeated head injuries and paint huffing.

Charlie has always been really insane. Every time you get a glance at his personal life, it's weird and fucked-up and retarded. I think that we're just getting to see more of it as time goes on.
EDIT: When he was trying to DENNIS the waitress, did you notice how she didn't even seem scared that someone had broken into her apartment? Like she just knew it would be Charlie and was annoyed, rather than shocked or frightened? I think he does this fairly often, but this is just the first time it's been on camera.

It erupts into greatness once Danny Devito joins the cast

It's pretty hilarious
A few moments are killer, overall, it's about as good as an average episode
meaning fantastically awesome

Now I am addicted but Hulu only has Season 3 and 5 and I have watched them both. I need more of this.
they aren't expensive
My budget has room for things like: rent, electricity, gas, and food
But not DVDs
It's just two hours of people talking and for some reason this one guy will never ever look at Muhammad.

It's a pretty steady decline into absurdity.
Which is just hilarious.
