We've got two extra sleeping things (futon and pull-out couch) if you feel like stopping in Belleville. It's not the most exciting place, but we could offer a pretty good time.

Damn it, it's fucking noon. I demand to know if Yami shit on a desk yet.

    Shit, how'd I miss this?

I could meet up with you guys in Atlanta depending on the day and how things are looking for me.

I probably couldn't offer my place up, but we'll see. If you guys are hurting for a place to stay then I may be able to talk my fiance and roommate into it. I live in Chattanooga, which is roughly 2 hours north of ATL.

If you aren't able to find PA folks willing to let you crash in all the stretches of the country, but still want to avoid hotels, this site will prove invaluable. Can't say I've done it myself, but I've got some friends who swear by it and use it to the degree where one was interviewed by a news agency concerning it.

Also, I've hit up 35 of the states myself, so if you're looking for random things to do in any given area, I can see if I can think of anything.

This is where I come in asking why in the hell you'd want to take such a crappy road from Atlanta instead of just staying on I-85 and coming up in to Charlotte and then up into Greensboro/High Point and then take your pick of going on up into Virginia or splitting over onto I-77 and taking it into Kentucky.

I don't really know anybody here, I mostly lurk, but if you decided to come on up towards the Triad, I'd let you stay at my house in High Point no problem.

If you guys are striking east on I-40 to Atlanta then I can at least buy you guys some bitching BBQ for dinner in Little Rock, with a possible place to stay (couch + air matress). I-40 comes stright through the middle of LR. Alternatively, if you dip down into dallas for whatever reason then you'll take I-30 out of dallas, it (I-30) meets back up with I-40 in LR. You're highly likely to be driving 5 miles from my house either way. This is of course if I don't move before then. We're trying to move to the Dallas/Ft Worth area.

If I do move, then again if you decide to dip down into dallas for some reason I'll be there instead.

I'm not sure how you're guys plans are for the run from the northeast to the northwest, but if you're interested you can join the cross-country supertrip across interstates 90 and 94. It's a caravan of people going to pax in a two-day, driver-rotating endurance run arriving in Seattle the Thursday before PAX.

From what I can see, it looks like you guys are more interested in a leisurely trip, but if there is nothing that interests you between, the Great Lakes and Seattle and you want to hit the road with a crowd of fellow gamers, feel free to join us. You would need a third driver to make it from that far east, but if you join us somewhere in the middle (say Bismarck, North Dakota), it could be done with just two drivers.

edit: Also, I've driven across the country nine times now, if you have any questions.

Yeah, I've been thinking pretty hard about doing this. I didn't know it was an "endurance run"; it might be tough on the third person since they'd have to sit in the back seat of a VW Beetle. Also I'm not sure if we're going to try going into Canada to visit folks in Calgary or something.

Once we have a better idea, though, we'll definitely let you guys on the CCST know what's up.

Yeah, this year we left here in Cleveland at about 12:30 PM EDT on Sept 1 and arrived in Seattle Sept 3 at 1:15PM PDT. The legs are between about 180 and 300 miles each (max. about 5 hours) with an hour break in between. Also, this year the guys from Texas crammed 4 people into a Prius, so it's doable with 3 in the beetle, but you might want to consider joining us around the halfway point if you want to avoid cramming a third person in there.

I'm looking at tossing the CCST thread up in the pax forum sometime around February, so if you have any question or want specifics you don't want to post here, just shoot me a PM.

We do five hour legs so people can meet up with us without having to drive 800+ miles alone. That and it's good to give the car a break at least an hour every 10.

Also, what does somebody as fat as you know about endurance?

Any idiot can drive 12 straight hours. Do 4 times that and tell me it's not a good idea to pace yourself, and I'd call you an idiot when they called me in to identify your body after you drove off the side of a mountain.

It's 15, actually, and I do that by myself, while you have three goddamn drivers.

You still don't even drive overnight. Don't even talk to me until you've driven at least a full 24 hours.

In 06 my car only had 2 drivers and I once drove to california by myself in 15 hour intervals for 3 days. I mean, fuck, have you ever driven across the rockies? How about through a thunderstorm the size of Kansas? How about across Montana at night? What's that in the road, oh, it's a BEAR!

No, didn't think so. Any idiot can drive up the west coast without ever losing daylight. Don't call me a pussy when your fatass thinks that a leisurely drive up the west coast even compares to driving across the country.

    I have a place here

It's off the beaten path but if you want to tour the beautiful emerald triangle... ah who the hell am I kidding. Ukiah is a dump about 2hrs north of SF. If you want a place to crash I have a front room with 2 couches in it.

No spawn either, just me and my fiance.

You do not want to go to Ukiah.

I mean, I'm going there this weekend, but only because I have to. My family lives there.

Like, serious shithole. You'd be better off finding a sidewalk in Williams to crash on.

Ha ha ha, I did some field work in Ukiah once. Yeah...

I've got a place here in Reno if you guys wanted to stop by, but Reno's usually out of the way. If you're going to the Bay Area, though, you could always swing by here! I only have one couch, however, but could requisition a sleeping pad/bag for the unlucky fellow.

I'm actually in Ukiah right now.

It's just as shitty as I remember it being.
