Sore armpit, swollen lymph node?

Every couple weeks my right armpit feels sore for a few days, I always chalked it up to carrying a heavy bag on my right shoulder but I haven't these past few days since I'm on winter break. My next thought was that maybe the lymph node was swollen and, sure enough, there definitely is a lump compared to my left armpit. Since this appears to be a chronic, although not constant, condition should I make an appointment with a primary care physician?

Speaking as a survivor of Lymphoma, cancer of the Lymph Nodes diagnosed Stage 4 at age 19 with at the time next to no symptoms, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR.

Definitely go to your doctor. Lymph glands swollen(usually)=immune system in overdrive, most of the time you'll get pretty ill.

These are also symptoms of Cat Scratch Fever, which is potentially fatal. Are you at the doctor yet?

It might be just bad deoderant.

This doesn't sound to different than what I have dealt with before.

Going to the doctor never hurt though so go see the doctor.

Wouldn't that be more likely to cause itchiness or rashes?
tofu, are there any other symptoms?

And I too recommend going to a doctor.

Seriously, it could be a million damn things, up to and including a ingrown nail. Don't freak the dude out.

I'm not freaking out, but I appreciate the advice. There are no other symptom, my cause for concern was that it seems to be chronic and only in my right armpit. I'll try and make an appointment to see a doctor next week.

edit: What is a lymphatic specialist called?

Sounds a lot like what I had a few months ago, hydradenitis. It's just an infection in your sweat gland. If it's just a big red sore bump in your armpit, that's it. Like others have said GO SEE A DR. It's not dangerous and easily fixable with some antibiotics.
