Transportation Security Administration officials said passengers aboard U.S. Airways Flight 192 from Orlando, Fla., on Saturday night reported that two men, described as Middle Eastern, were acting strangely and talking loudly to each other in a foreign language.
A nearby passenger also observed one of men watching what appeared to be footage of a suicide bombing, but was actually a scene from the 2007 movie "The Kingdom." The man also got up from his seat while the seat belt warning sign was still lit, FBI spokesman Manuel Johnson said.
What, really, can they possibly add regarding airplane screenings?
Now there's xrays, shoe xrays, bombsniffers, metal detectors going over your whole body, dogs. Even that new fancy see through clothes thing. I'm not opposed to more checks, but what can they possibly add?
Let's just take this to its logical conclusion.
Sedate passengers. Stack them in coffins.
You'll save plenty of money! No more seats taking space, no in-flight food or entertainment to worry about...
Frankly, if I could be put in hibernation for long-haul flights I think it'd be an improvement. Of course it would go swimmingly till inevitably someone would get raped.
I'm pretty sure I couldn't fly right now. If they asked me to put my laptop away and sit there with my hands clearly visible, I'd probably start cursing them out and to stop treating me like a 1st grader.
Oh who am I kidding, I'd listen to them and comply because I'm a sheeple.
so, i had this wacky idea of programming up some cheap, $1 iphone games
turns out, however, that the iphone SDK only runs on mac computers
this should not have surprised me, i guess, but i'm still disappointed
oh well
That's a shame. I would totally have played "Pony's Paragraph Breaker."

The problem with me trying to write things in English is that I know of no rules, it either feels right or wrong. A) felt kind of wrong in this case. Thanks!
So, wild notion: Fly to florida, rent a car, drive up the east coast of the US, return car in maine, and fly home.
Feasible/Stupid/Insane?

Hearts of Iron III is on sale, on steam. I feel like I should get it, but simultaneously like I shouldn't.
I really like the idea of the game, but I was totally unable to play the second game. I remember trying to invade Panama after 50 years of preparation and then completely dying.

Totally insane and feasible and awesome idea.
The question is whether renting or buying a used car would be preferable.
I kind of thought about that, but if it was only for a couple of weeks the rental cost would only be about £4-500 for something big enough to be comfortable for motorway driving, plus I wouldn't have to try and buy a car in an unfamiliar city, and I'd have someone to call in the event of breakdown.

Insane. It's going to be expensive and... LONG. Two day trip, at least. Maybe longer depending on how far south in Florida to begin and how far north in Maine you're going. Why would you want to do this?

I was thinking over the course of a couple of weeks, stopping in interesting places. "Doing America" the way that American tourists "do Europe".

Why not? It'll be expensive, but there's worse things to do.
There's some cool places to explore on the east coast.
Plus, a direct route from Miami to Bangor is 1707 miles according to google maps. Even if you double that to account for meandering, it's an easily feasible amount of driving to fit into two weeks without ending up doing nothing but driving.

Expensive but doable. I-95 runs all the way along the coast. Depending on how you want to drive it, you can do it in two or three days. If you wanted to stop along the way, you'd be able to access all of the major coastal cities along the way.

Also I wish to know which of these phrases would be considered more correct:
A) What has then been the primary cause...
What, then, has been the primary cause...
A feels very incorrect to me for some reason.
HALP!
B is correct I believe. A isn't incorrect (I don't think), but the wording sounds a bit off. Safer to use B.
B is correct, although technically A can be correct to depending on context. For instance:
"What has then been the primary cause for the decline in population is now caused by a new virus."
While B is used as :
"What, then, has been the primary cause for the death of this patient?"
I see, the sentence is very much like the example for B you used here. It's for a medical paper that someone else is translating and I'm supposed to help out a bit. I can't remember the phrase perfectly, but we were having a disagreement on the wording for this and very similar phrases last night.

Oh... well then why the east coast? I would find going across the whole US to be more interesting. Start in Florida go up north a bit, then head west to Cali. I would recommend stop in St. Louis to see the Arch and Las Vegas, cause it's definitely an awesome city. Going up the east coast like that, the only thing I can think of is to stop in DC and Boston. Other than that, not sure where else you'd want to stop.
How much would a person expect to pay for a night in a crappy roadside hotel?
$50? Depends on how crappy/how much you enjoy getting shot.
Also depends on how close to a city you are- and what city. The further out, the cheaper, generally. Things tend to be cheaper in the South (excluding Southern Florida). $50 is a good estimate but, like Syphon said, it also depends on how crappy.

We feds now bitch!
Really, people?
They just have armed marshals aboard all flights and banned hand luggage.
EDIT: My God. Two people from another country, speaking a different language? On a plane? Never have I heard something so obviously suspicious.
There was also a thing last night(?) where they reported a suspicious man - a nigerian who was on the airplane toilet for too long.
HALP!

$166.20 up for the night
that's including money spent on drinks
wtf

I can't wait till the post about how you need money or they're going to take your thumbs.

Darling, I love you, but your first sentence makes no sense. Sorry.

Depends on where and the season. It's been a while but somewhere in the range of $50 to $100 a night.
You can easily find hotels for 40 dollars a night.
the only ones
Oops, forgot New York. I'm sure a tourist would love to stop there. I don't know why I forgot that.

I'd say $50-$100 just depending on all factors.
