Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
I have this friend that sucks with computers and he wants to buy one before he moves to a very remote location. He will no longer have me to fix his PC problems so I recommended getting a Dell so that he can fix a lot of the PC's problem online.
Do other PC's, like Gateway, have similar services available now or is Dell still the only way to go for noobs?

Does the place he's moving to have Highspeed Internet (1Mb Down/256Kbps Up, minimum)? If you want, you can just install something like Ultra VNC and remotedly help him with computer problems. MSN Messenger probably still has an "Ask For Help" tool that lets you use RDP.
Most computers now come with Windows Vista, which includes Windows Meeting Spaces, which allows you guys to do an online meeting, where he can grant you control of his PC. I use this to fix my families and friends machines. Works pretty well, but they'll need to be there to click "ok" on any of the UAC popups (or turn them off before hand).

I'd only suggest a Dell if he really has no computer knowledge and NO inclination to want to learn.
