Welcome to the world on this side.
Sega should do something like that someday, just to fuck with people.
Lucky for me, I know people with Dreamcasts that I can play!

But fuck I'm happy, I can't wait for the next week to see what else they show off.
Sonic. the. hedgehog. 4.
About fucking time!
Thanks, now I have to play through the genesis version of that again.
Do episodic games have DLC?
Granted the only Episodic Title I ever played was Half-Life 2's and well that ended horribly.
Sonic needs a more cartoonish run animation though.
It ended?

There's not really any rules on what you can and can't do with episodic. It's just a descriptor a different meaning for each developer that uses it.
I really hope so and there are multiple PC games published by Sega that uses Steamworks, but I don't understand why they would keep a platform secret.
Probably just Eggbotnik
Dunno, I didn't see it.
Correct!
Fun fact: Those corkscrews were actually CG renderings in the original Sonic 2. They rendered the corkscrews on an Amiga, then converted them into genesis 8x8 tiles using a genesis palette.
Golly no! That's exactly why it was an awful trailer! How was it great when it didn't show anything!?

It ended my Interest in anything Valve makes except Portal.
They sure as hell got the level art down. It's got what I always said was the most distinctive characteristic of classic sonic art down - DAT SHINE. Look at how shiny the plants and ground look. The old genesis games had that in spades.
Man I like that art. it reminds me of Knuckles Chaotix.
Hopefully they show off more of the Sonic model next, I want to see him running. He looks like he's in sprint in the trailer, like just before he should start spinning his legs in the old games.
Well, I was being a bit sarcastic. Though while the lack of game footage is an enormous flaw, the trailer actually did everything else right IMO. It builds the hype nicely.. it just fails to follow through on it. (The sega screen in the beginning, running through the previous genesis games).
I mean, it's a great teaser trailer, but I wasn't looking for a teaser trailer at this point.
Halogen, from Sonic 3!
Though, Sonic is definitely no stranger to the App Store.
And I don't care what anybody says, this is so fucking tits:

To me, it seems clear that whatever was in the black background isn't actually from the game. Notice how he has no stopping or turning animations?
Not bad for a downloadable game. I wonder what the price will be.
I found it funny that a bunch of the leaks were right but still dismissed the Wiiware version due to the early HDness of the very first announcement. As soon as I heard the music from the teaser site I knew they were going pure MM9 with this and there was no way it'd skip the Wii, especially considering the high sales of Sonic games on the platform.
This doesn't seem like MM9, this seems more like New Super Mario bros.
I'd say $20. my reasoning is that the whole point of episodic content is supposed to be a bunch of bite-sized chunks which add up to a full game for a normal retail price, right? And the leak claimed that each title would be the size of a normal genesis game, which is in line with the 7 zones deal (the average length of a genesis sonic title). At $20, that'd make 3 episodes equal out to 21 zones for $60, which sounds about right for me.
If it were $10, that'd mean either 42 Zones for $60, or 21 for $30 - either of which would be awesome, but I don't see that happening.
Also, how many acts is each zone going to have? Still 2, or will we go back to Sonic 1 and have 3?
