When I was studying, one of the students I was working with on a project always typed urls into google and then clicked the result. I asked him what the hell he was doing, and he said it was because he didn't want the url showing up in the history in the address bar.
I still have no idea how that made sense in any way. It wasn't like it was porn or anything, just regular web sites.
To clarify - he first went to www.google.com, he didn't use the google search field in his browser.
Williams said the new update will remain optional and that those who choose not to install it will still be able to get other Windows updates, a position that marks a fairly sharp contrast to the once hard line Microsoft was taking against piracy.
So their anti-piracy update only works if the pirate chose to download it?

I'm sure it won't be called THE ANTI-PIRACY UPDATE, it will be a Windows Genuine Notification Configuration Tool Update or something like that.
But it wasn't going to deter the pirates who are really watching out for stuff like this anyways. It's going to fuck up the tons of other people who are like "Oh, I can just download windows 7 and it comes with a crack" and then they go about using it like it is a normally purchased OS, downloading and installing updates automatically.
People who download their OS and then get malware just deserve it. Especially since it isn't hard at all to get a clean version. Like, if you use torrents at all, even for perfectly legal reasons, you'll stumble across that shit eventually.

I would like to pause for a moment, to talk about my penis.
My penis is like a toddler. A toddler—who is a perfectly normal size for his age—on a long road trip to what he thinks is Disney World. My penis is excited because he hasn’t been to Disney World in a long, long time, but remembers a time when he used to go every day. So now the penis toddler is constantly fidgeting, whining “Are we there yet? Are we there yet? How about now? Now? How about... now?”
And Disney World is nowhere in sight.

I do this too!
(at work only though and I don't type full urls for example for here I would type penny arcade forums and just search)
It's because like they said, in IE the address bar remembers what you type in even if you delete the history. (Now at work I use chrome in private mode)

if you can think of a fetish, there's a whole group for it which has already formed sub groups
even my flatmates who have some computer competency usually go to google, then type in what they want e.g. 'facebook'
and with our dynamic IPs, you'll get a new one every day!
also chrome guesses URLs you put in based on how many times you've done it before, which is great
I can just go 'fa [enter]' and bam facebook

CNET tells me that Microsoft is actively fighting back against Windows 7 piracy.
So their anti-piracy update only works if the pirate chose to download it?
But instead, it will disable a number of activation hacks and mark the OS as not genuine
