Is there an easy means of identifying a crossover ethernet cable as opposed to non-crossover stuff?

Look at the two ends of the cable. Compare:

Most of the crossover cables I have seen will say it on the cable itself.

Thats not always a good thing to go by as ethernet patch leads come in pretty much every colour imaginable.
Easiest way is to compare the ends like travathian said.
Straight through cables will have the pins colour-coded the same on both ends, crossover ones will be different on either end.
