That the Glee club beat mercilessly.

    Further reinforcing their prejudice!

    Also: I should read more.

But I have so much to read for school I fall asleep and have just started reading a few pages of Watchmen before I pass out every night.

I'm over a hundred pages into Drood now and I am really enjoying it.

Having a narrator who is so blatantly biased against the protagonist makes for a rather interesting reading experience.

Not to mention the fact that the narrator and/or the protagonist are possibly insane.

I've read a fair bit of Urban Fantasy of various types, but Dresden Files is the only series I've read that starts off good and just gets better and better.

On a slightly related note, bookshops here have started to ditch their horror section entirely, and have shunted all the books to Crime, "Dark Fantasy" or "Popular Romance"

    I don't like Steven Leavitt.

It's just not clear what he contributes to the books. It's not his own research (usually he either cites other people's studies, or he puts his name on a study where the heavy lifting -- the math or the data collection -- is done by his collaborators.) And it's not like he's a great expositor, either -- he has that journalist Dubner to fix his prose. His contribution, I guess, is being a cocky bastard with an eye for what'll shock audiences.

There are a lot of real economists who can write beautifully for a popular audience, many at Leavitt's own University of Chicago, and it's just kind of galling that this pishker gets on the best-seller list.

Yeah this was about my take on the book. He'd be so meticulous with a lot of claims, then just have one out of left field. He's better at debunking than, uh, bunking.

And his interjections that he wasn't good at math were just dumb. Economics math isn't even that bad, it's statistics. I don't buy that you're so smart at everything else, but you're bad at math.

I finished 'The Lies of Locke Lamora' last night...after starting it last night. I guess you could say it grabbed me.

I absolutely loved the setting, the level of detail that had gone into the world building reminded of the Malazan series, only crammed into one city. Actually, Camorr did feel a lot like Darujhistan to me. Which is fine, because GotM and TtH are two of my favourite Malazan books.

I think Lynch writes great characters too, I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard while reading a book as I did when I was reading about the Gentlemen Bastards formative years. Or hated a fictional character with as much passion as
that fucking Bondsmage and the Grey King. Seriously, fuck those guys.

Though I also wish Lynch wouldn't make horrible things happen to the characters I like. Especially
    poor Nazca D:

I'm really looking forward to picking up the second book, though I've just started 'The Name of the Wind'

Is that by Matthew Stover? I've only read a couple of his Star Wars novels, but they were head and shoulders above the usual quality of those kind of books. I've been meaning to look into some of his original work for a while now, but it's hard to find 'round these parts.

Schönefeld Airport has the shittiest book store on planet Earth. I wasn't able to pick up any books in Berlin on account of rampant drinking and shops being closed, so I had to make do with a special Spiegel edition on Hitler's rise to power. Hell of awkward reading it in the airport though. Pictures of Hitler and young men in Nazi uniforms all over that magazine. Oh well.
