kids that buy vinyl and don't have a turntable should be slapped
Is this... is this a thing? That people do?
I don't understand. I don't understand at all.
In other news, I'm relistening to that 'Just Like a Girl' album I bought in Japan and Debbie Harry and New Order are engaging in something fucking insane. I'm so glad I bought this.

For a college town I'd expect there to be a lot more record stores here, but there's only one shitty one that's a headshop too and the employees are dicks and it's overpriced. I think they're participating in RSD but I don't know

i wish i had a record player
but vinyl is really expensive and it would be a hassle in my dorm and waaaahhh
Passion Pit - Little Secrets 7'
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Skeletons 7'
Phoenix - Fences 12' (its pink too)
TV on the Radio - Dear Science 12' (fucking finally i've been waiting 2 years for this to be reprinted)
Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica 2x12'
And my friend got herself the RSD Tegan and Sara 7'
total was around $54 bucks for my stuff (the modest mouse lp was 28 bucks, but ill probably never see it printed again)

no it's not
buying new music and reissues on vinyl is really expensive. but that's daft anyway. i don't see the point of buying a new record on vinyl that was produced and mastered digitally and sounds just as good on cd
but there is so much fantastic old music out there practically being given away because nobody listens to records anymore and it's been forgotten. all you need is patience to dig and a gambling spirit. though admittedly mobile access to wikipedia helps too

whoa whoa whoa whoa
there is no "sounds just as good on cd"
the only reason vinyl hasn't died as a format is because a record in good shape on a nice turntable has better audio fidelity than really any format since
Really? "Better" how? The best systems I've heard have all been digital to high-end headphones.
I was under the impression vinyl hadn't died as a format because of manual timing for DJs and collectors.
I've got a vinyl of Flogging Molly's Float cause I was thinking about getting a turntable for a while and the vinyls at the Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney was doing a closing sale and got it for cheap.

well vinyl might potentially sound better the first handful of times if you have a perfect system, but if you actually want to listen to the damn thing it's going to degrade necessarily

i bought an album on vinyl because it was a tour only, limited edition thing with the intention of then buying a turntable
but the pay day that would give me enough money to buy a turntable and all the other shit i need has never quite come so it just sits sadly next to my cds

I'll probably get a record player this summer though, that'd be nice
Because everyone should own that album.

This is the silliest thing.

Also a first pressing of In God We Trust
that rules pretty hard
also @bsjezz the only modern music i would buy on vinyl is stuff that is only released on it
it would never be balanced
i tend to want to listen to my music.
