Game Modes
Single-player
There is single player! In a battlefield game! Weird, I know!
Squad Rush: 4v4
Each team has an M-COMM station. Kind of like CTF but the flags don't move.
Squad Death-Match: 4v4v4v4
Played on a smaller map, this is just a straight up team-dm with a single vehicle dropped in the centre to fight over. Get your mates, grab your guns and start shooting.
Conquest: 16v16 PC, 12v12 PS3/360
A Battlefield mainstay, this mode makes its return here. No major changes announced, and there've been hints at classic maps making reappearances as DLC.
Rush: 16v16 PC, 12v12 PS3/360
Players choose to join either the Attacking team or the Defending team, and spawn in their respective bases. Attackers try to set up demolition charges on a set of 2 M-COMM crates in the Defending team's base. For each Attacker killed, the team loses one life, or "ticket." If the Attacking team's tickets run out, game over. If they manage to detonate the M-COMM's, a new Defending team base opens up, and the process repeats itself until three bases have been destroyed and the Attackers win.
Kits (Loadouts)
Assault
The basic offensive loadout. Main features are an ammo box that replenishes ammo when dropped, and a 40mm launcher that can be used for grenades, smoke grenades, or a slow-reloading shotgun attachment. Assault Rifles are the Assault's main primary weapon. Against vehicles, the Assault will generally not fare so well.
Medic
Similar to the Assault's ammo box, the medic gets a first aid kit. Once dropped, it will replenish health to everyone within a fairly tight radius. The medic also gets defib paddles, which can resurrect recently deceased teammates. These teammates, still caught in the limbo of the spawn timer, will be marked on your minimap (and on screen if HUD is enabled) by a little green or blue heart-rate monitor symbol. The medic's primary is the Light Machine Gun, making him great for infantry support. Against vehicles, though, he is worse off than the Assault.
Engineer
The engineer's specials are a welding tool that repairs friendly vehicles (and deals damage to enemies!), and the choice between RPG's or anti-tank mines. RPG's have the added benefit of being able to lock onto anything that has already been marked by the cross-kit unlock tracer dart pistol, while anti-tank mines will not harm friendly vehicles and stay deployed even after you die or switch kits. Engineer's primaries are Sub Machine Guns, generally pretty weak but also silenced and fairly accurate.
Recon
The recon's specials are a choice between remote-detonated C4 and the ability to call down a mortar strike on a target with which you have line-of-sight. They also gets the incredibly useful motion sensor thing, which spots all enemies within a decent radius for a limited time. The recon's primaries are sniper rifles. Also it can't be overstated how much proper hiding will help you in this: people will walk within 2 feet of you if you're in the right bush, the ghillie suit is your friend.
CarbonFire's Turret Mouse Fix
CARBONFIRE'S Mouse Smoothing and Turret Speed Fix for BFBC2
This fix will change the way your mouse works in-game for both your regular infantry view and when using stationary / vehicle turrets or Choppers.
Currently Battlefield Bad Company 2 has mouse smoothing on by default, with no way of turning the feature off in the game's settings. Mouse Smoothing normalizes your mouse's input, "smoothing out" very fast or very slow movements. The result of this smoothing is often aiming that feels floaty or laggy, which is obviously not desirable in an FPS!
Also BFBC2 turrets tend to turn at a much slower rate compared to normal infantry mouse aiming. This fix will solve that problem and opens the potential for turrets to reach their maximum turning speed without affecting infantry movement. This will also make vehicle turrets turn faster, but they have a hard-coded maximum turning speed, so don't expect to pull a quick 180 with a tank turret anytime soon.
DISCLAIMER: This fix involves changing values within key game files that are relied upon to properly run BFBC2. It is advised that you back up these files prior to editing, and that you don't go changing any values outside the ones shown below. Use this fix at your own risk, you assume all responsibility if you mess up your game.
Ok, with that out of the way, here are the steps to killing mouse smoothing and fixing those slow turrets:
Go to your My Documents > BFBC2 folder. We will be making changes to the Gamesettings.ini file, as well as the files within the <input> folder, so go ahead and make back-up copies of those first.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE AN <INPUT> FOLDER, IT IS BECAUSE YOU ARE USING THE DEFAULT KEYBINDINGS.
You must go to your settings in-game and bind at least one custom control (doesn't matter which) before the game makes this folder with the proper files inside.

Make sure BFBC2 is closed

Open GameSettings.ini and make the following changes:
Sensitivity0=0.000000
Sensitivity1=0.000000
Sensitivity2=0.000000
.
.
.
Scheme0Sensitivity=2.50000 <--- This value will be your normal in-game mouse sensitivity, it seems to have no effect on turrets or vehicles. Feel free to experiment with this value and change as necessary. I found 2.5 to be a good compromise between fast turning speed and precision with a 1000DPI mouse, but YMMV. Values from 0.001 to 100+ are valid.
.
.
InputAcceleration=0

Save and close GameSettings.ini

Navigate to the <input> folder, open infantry.dbx using notepad

Search for the following line:
<field name="ConceptIdentifier">ConceptPitch</field>

Below this line you'll see several similar-looking blocks of data. Make the following changes:

Again, find the appropriate block of data and make the following changes:

.

Save and close infantry.dbx
Mouse Smoothing should be effectively disabled at this point. However this change will render turrets and vehicles nearly impossible to use, so make sure you follow the remaining steps...
.

In the <input> folder, open land.dbx using notepad

Search for the following line:
<field name="ConceptIdentifier">ConceptPitch</field>

Again, you'll see several similar-looking blocks of data below this section. Make the following changes:

Note: 10 here is a suggestion, again feel free to experiment. Values below 5 seemed too sluggish for my taste, while values far greater than 20 did not seem to make turrets any faster at turning, just more "squirrely" (changing directions more quickly, making it harder to stay on target).
.

Just Below this section you'll find a similar section with the following header:
<field name="ConceptIdentifier">ConceptRoll</field>
Again, find the appropriate block of data and make the following changes:

.

Save and close land.dbx
Note: The next section applies only to piloting Helicopters (not including the UAV). Gunner seats and the UAV seem to follow the "land" control guidelines for turning speed. Also this fix was only tested for mouse flight. If you fly with a joystick or keyboard-only controls, you'll probably have to play with these settings a bit more to get them to work with your setup. Good Luck!
.

In the <input> folder, open air.dbx using notepad

Same as before, search for the following line:
<field name="ConceptIdentifier">ConceptPitch</field>
Below this line you'll see several similar-looking blocks of data. Make the following changes:

.

Search for the following line:
<field name="ConceptIdentifier">ConceptRoll</field>
Again, find the appropriate block of data and make the following changes:

Choppers seem to need much higher values to compensate for setting the "main" mouse sensitivity to zero in step 2. Much lower than 100 and the chopper is hard to move. I tried up to 300, and while it worked, it wasn't a significant change. Again, experiment and find a value that suits you. Like turrets, there is a hard-coded maximum turning speed that the game allows, so don't expect this to transform your chopper into a super stunt machine.
.

Save and close air.dbx

Start up BFBC2

ENJOY!

(optional)Curse EA as the servers go down again and go play single-player instead ;-)

One final note: Vehicles / Turrets will always be affected by some smoothing, as there is no Scheme#Sensitivity or other setting I was able to find in GameSettings.ini that changed vehicle/turret behavior.
Hope this tutorial makes your BC2 experience just a little more awesome.
I think this bears repeating:
To easily add some PA servers (Angry Dome in particular) to your Favorites tab, edit GameSettings.ini (Found in MyDocs/BFBC2) and add:

That'll add The Angry Dome, PA West Coast, and Black House Combat. I couldn't find any mention of the other PA servers while digging around for these. This should go in the OP. Also, add
Zetty to the PC-EA Account Thing.
To be fair, those people were already using the AN-94, since there are only five total guns in the 360 version.
Why does the AN-94 need a buff, again?
Xbox/PSN/Steam: NickleDL | 3DS: 0731-4750-6906
I guess its official then? The DP promotion isn't gonna get us free stuff in BC2? So I drank all that Dr. Pepper for nothing?
I'm 90% certain I was using VSmoke when piloting a Blackhawk last night and right clicking produced no flares. Does it only work on attack helis?
Sweet. I'm thinking of hooking up my PC either to my projector (native 720p) or my LED TV which does 1080.
I'm gonna go ahead and guess the PC graphics are a touch better than the 360 version, no?
I'm a little irked by the change they made to the bolt action sniper's minimum damage range though. It kind of throws out the little bit of uniqueness that they had between them.
Oh well. All things considered, the SV-98 got a range buff
what did they actually do?
We're you traced at the time? I think it might only work once you're traced. It's been so long since I've used it though :?
Steam: CarbonFire MWO, Planetside 2, Origin: Carb0nFire
The AN94 was probably buffed because at range, the second shot always misses.
I wasn't. I was trying to see if flares worked on the way over in the event that someone did trace me I'd be ready. Will have to try again later with the new turbo tracer darts floating around.
Ah, I hadn't noticed. It already seemed pretty strong, and is the gun I see most on people running assault. Well, that and the m416.
If they really wanted to push the an-94, they could swap out those iron sights.
Xbox/PSN/Steam: NickleDL | 3DS: 0731-4750-6906
I say think because the server browser is worse then anything right now.
Can someone that has tried the new tracer tell me how much faster it is now?
Maybe it's VAlt-Fire? Like I said, it's been a long time since I've even tried it.
If it IS Alt Fire, then flares would be limited to the Blackhawk / Hind.
Steam: CarbonFire MWO, Planetside 2, Origin: Carb0nFire
Tried it. Didn't work. I tried V Smoke and V alt on everything. I even tried Armour.
Four times as fast. Literally.
Also, the Uzi is better than the PP 2000 due to the minimal recoil. Shit is awesome.
4x speed buff apparently.
Goomba just has to promise not to yell at me when I use it.
It's ok, there are plenty of other things we can kill you with :}
Steam: CarbonFire MWO, Planetside 2, Origin: Carb0nFire
How the hell do I use the xbox360 PA Metatag that I always see mentioned?
My tag is Damoven for anyone who wants a game or 2
Since with the tracer dart buff, Blackhawks are going to be shot down in a matter of seconds.

The r7 changes are near the bottom. The chart is updated. If you want to see the old chart just use google's cache.

I love the Type 88 with the 4x scope. Jumping in the fray, dropping danger close mortar strikes > *
Nope, since VSmoke gives you flares the Blackhawk is still A OK.
The annoying bit though is for the attack Helos, since with the flare buff you're insane to not take the VSmoke as a pilot (and in general, really), making the VAlt Weapons pretty much useless unless it's a pubstomp.
You need to send a friend request first, then once it is accepted (which it may not be - I'm not sure who actually manages it) you can go to the gamercard for the metatag, and see which people on its friends list are actively playing.
edit: Also hahah dang SV98 is now best sniper rifle even harder.
So If I'm reading that right, sniper rifles are now even worse at killing people at long ranges than before vis a vi LMGs & ARs?, and no more 1 shot kills out to 40 yards with the m95?
It takes 20 seconds to reload the smoke package.
It takes 3 seconds to reload a tracer dart.
